Goings-On excerpt:
The conversation with Booth resolved, Lazarus has called a meeting of her senior members together, to discuss the pup-tutors. Janus has been granted Irena, though has yet to pick her up due to his search for Tofal, Swerve has been assigned Hecate, and Glory has been saddled with dear, stupid Lartus. Pompeii, mummy's favourite, has remained with her, presumbly for private tutoring on how to become a heartless bastard. But, oh! What maddness is this? Atrevoc seems eager to crash proceedings.

Musty forest earth underpaw as she followed the zebra trail into increasingly dense foliage. Brief pause -- whiffing here, digging there -- then on the move again, effortlessly leaping over fallen oak trees. Pushing murky thoughts and worries beneath, Lazarus the alpha surrendered to the Wolf -- that nameless, inexhaustible, driving energy powering her body like determination, but much stronger and steadier.
She slunk into sight of the herd and shut her eyes against the dizzying combination of stripes and movement. They nervously chewed on grass and vegetation, the young ones herded close and center. Though unusually small for a zebra herd, she had to squint to make out individuals, then categorically evaluate each of them as prey prospects. That one, too spirited. The corner animal, too flighty. That one too bulky to drag back to Kyaa Plott. She needed it lean, easy to make out, with some weakness to speak of.
Doubt. With no easy targets, no sick or straggling, could she really take one down herself? It was as if they had been warned: the herd shut itself in tightly, grazing only within immediate sight of the others. Nothing could be done. Steeling herself, she lay down, head resting on her paws, and waited. And watched. And waited.
