Account Activity and Cleaning

As most of you have noticed Evergen is under new management, new staff means new changes. This notice is being posted to inform Evergen members that new (well not really new since they were already created, but rather "revised") rules have been implemented and have already taken effect. The rules here that have been instated are as follows:


If your account has been active within the past 3 months from the day a staff member looks at your profile but you have NOT role played and you have NOT placed a notice in the Gone Away thread located in the OOC Chatter Box, your characters will be placed in the graveyard. They may be redeemed upon PM to Tora or Saberlin, expressing that you have returned and would like to continue Roleplay.

If your account has NOT been active in the past 6 months, your characters will be moved to the graveyard and your account WILL be deleted without notification, unless you have left a notice in the OOC Chatter Box Thread titled Gone Away giving your excuse of being absent.


The point of this is to 1. Get people to use the OOC Chatter Box to inform staff members about those that may be gone for an extended period of time so we do not delete anyone mistakenly, and 2. To help keep the board neat and clean of absentee characters and role players.

We encourage members to better themselves here and we are understanding when it comes to real life being a priority to role playing here at Evergen.

This is not a personal attack on any member, this is to promote communication among the members and the staff to better tie the community here at Evergen together. During the clean out sessions, these rules will be taken into consideration and if you are someone who has had their characters moved to the graveyard but your account is still valid and you are wishing to pursue role play here at Evergen again, please remember to PM TORA or SABERLIN to have your characters removed from the graveyard.

I thought sleeping over this would help, but since it doesn't, I'll just use this to note what I think...


It's already nice to be noticed of a new rule after it has already taken effect. Really.

There has been a time, I felt at home here at Evergen, the first Weyr I joined, the place where one of my characters impressed a dragon the first time - back when Anya was still running the site actively. I saw her leave and so did others. K'seyr took over and I still liked what she did with Evergen, enjoyed being here, had a lot of fun roleplaying with everyone.

I even turned mod to keep the place I liked so much alive, spend hours and hours fixing and updating lists. I didn't expect any reward but back then I begun feeling used. Everyone else who was active from the Staff - including senior mods who shouldn't even had access - were only posting in the admin-board, leaving me as the only person who did not have access in the mod board. With a number of inactive or semi-inactive people. I offered help a dozen times, probably offered taking over a Weyrling group three or four times... (the last time I did, the staff simply decided to try out a new system that never launched but nevertheless ended in denial of my offer)

I think, at some point, when hatchings were not concluded for over a month, when the admins and senior-mods of Evergen stopped including normal mods into hatching the babies but still didn't finish anything off, I just gave up on Evergen. Soon enough my real life didn't allow me to do any other, swallowing me whole.

I always liked Evergen but when I returned, I didn't feel as at home anymore as I had hoped. Some weird contracts you had to sign upon character creation had popped up, hatchings still were not concluded in time, mods were still excluded from helping with it. I still fixed the mistakes I saw in the lists, still did some background work that's rarely done but needed.

Then, two days ago I came back to the board and it looked different.
Instead of talking to me first, considering what I've done in the past, anything... I was just demoted from being mod. I could point at at least two people who have done less than I have during the past few months who still are part of the staff. But I'm not pointing fingers here.

I'm just telling you how I felt about this whole issue.

To top this... My characters have not just been moved to the Archive, they have been placed in the Graveyard. Killed off. Without prior warning. The pm informing me telling me that the staff saw me 'log on often'.

You didn't even try to talk to me.

There has been a time I felt at home at Evergen.
Many things happened that I was not quite happy with but since my opinion was never asked, I did not loose a word about it and accepted the change.

Yeah... I'm probably ranting a little here, but I know half a dozen or more people who left Evergen because they to did not feel at home anymore.

Roleplay should be fun.
This isn't.

I don't have much time left to write, so I'll just stop typing my thoughts at this point.

I enjoyed playing here as long as it lasted, but apparently I am not welcome anymore. You could have talked to me, any of you, but none of you tried. I'm a little disappointed that you don't think I'm grown up enough to discuss whatever issue there might be...

...either way, as I said to Tora, I won't stay at a place I am not welcome at. I'll copy my characterdescriptions in a few days and then I'll be gone.

I liked what you were back when I joined.

To those who might miss me... you can always visit me at Sylvan and a few other sites I'm active at.

Such happens with change. No place ever stays the same. We utilized the same rules that were in fact put in place by K'seyr. Not to mention we were not about to go and track down every person that had been inactive and shoot them an email, what with there being first so many of them, and secondly hardly any of those people even had the decency to leave a message in the away box.

That is what it is there for. If you are leaving, or going to be gone, you post there. When you are sick, txt a friend, have them post it. There are more than enough ways, shoot an Admin a quick PM if you don't want to go public but post something. Otherwise we have no regrets in cleaning up our boards.

To address what Carni said about it not feeling the same, of course it won't. I don't know a single member on here any more that has been here since I joined. Guess what, that happens. You lurk in the cbox, create a candidate, jump back in, and go with it. Its just how things are. To sit there and dwell on the past and say how much you don't like it because its not like the "good ol days" is just pointless.

If any others wish to vent here, go ahead, but it will not change anything. Admins are not in charge to make special examples and allowances for certain people simply because they have not been around and their chars got moved to a different section.

If you will all read once again we HAVE stated that you CAN in fact PM an admin, either Tora or myself and state why you were away and that you want your characters revived..

Another thing, just because we don't ASK for your opinion directly, doesn't mean we aren't open to suggestions. PS and BTW. Take initiative. If you don't take your own initiative then like this board and just like in real life, nothing is going to happen. Then when change comes you won't even be able to complain because you didn't state your opinion on the matter.

There will be a new board in the OOC section called "Your Opinion" where you will be able to voice such things.

Gee. It's good to see that our MODS can stay up to date on the rules on Evergen, isn't it Saberlin?

So, no, this is not a new rule that we're enforcing just after implementing. We're enforcing it FOUR WHOLE MONTHS after it went into use. So next time you want to complain about what we do here, get some evidence. And actually pay attention to what goes on.
