Soft slow wing beats carried the small amethyst form over the blue green expanse. Moria’s thoughts were scattered, the only reassuring thing at the moment was the warm spot between her back spines where Saya slept in the saddle. They were too far out to sea to ever be able to return to Akinon, their Island home; it was sheer luck that the small creature had managed to find a decent updraft over the expanse of water. She could see land in the distance but knew all too well that it was not the misted shores of their home; the coastline ran too long for that.
Slowly the bright amethyst spark descends as she nears the white shore her claws drag the water before she finally stops in the shallows of the beach. A stirring from her back announced Saya’s awakening. And the girl’s melodic voice causes her to sigh deeply.
“Moria where are we?” Saya asked unstraping before slipping into the shallow water. The dark haired woman wore an Asian style kimono split up each side so as to allow for movement. The garment was soft lavender in hue and deepened to a rich dark orchid at the hems. She wore soft white trousers, which flowed and appeared much like a skirt but allowed for more motion. She brushed a few stray strands back across her forehead and out of her bright eyes which matched her dragon’s scales. Moria adored the girl who seemed like a lone flower growing among solid stones. The long blade which hung at the girl’s back irredeced a bright violet shade within its sheath, and Moria was forced to recall their predicament.
“We were taken out to sea by the storm, it is very likely that we shall never again see our island home. “ Moria finally stated in a manner of fact tone. They would have to accept this new world, and whatever it threw at them. These were facts they both already knew, as was evident by their final acceptance. Moria folded her aching wings and made for the shore, Saya’s hand on her foreleg following. They were all they had now, and that left a pang in the lavender hued dragon's chest. She thought of the bright young green who had shown so much promise, of Say
They had the supplies Saya had packed, tents clothes, some dried rations weapons and a few tools. That would be enough for now. . . Still the fem kept a bright eye on the sky as her claws sunk into dry sand.

Amethyst orbs rested on the approaching forms, Moria curled a protective tail around her rider in caution. The ebony creature was indeed one of her kind, though he had grown somewhat larger than most males on her island. She chuckled inwardly at the male’s display, thinking he looked quite silly trying to impress her with his size and strength. Moria had never been one to easily impress, but she was a seeker of knowledge and often her and Saya rode as messengers, their speed and agility known amongst the islanders. Still she almost snorted as the dark haired Breton looking thing called Saya young. True Moria had aged only fifteen years, but Saya had a good five years on the dragon.
Saya watched the black brute and the woman approach, The beast was somewhat larger than most island dragons, but then judging from the muscle he was a thing of size and strength rather than scholarly. Instinctively she felt for the weight at her back that announced she was carrying her weapon. She did not reach for the long blade which once removed would shimmer brightly in a soft amethyst hue. But instead bit back her annoyance at being called young.
“I am Saya Akeakamai, Messanger and Acolyte of the Indigo temple. Of the isle of Akinon. “ Her voice was musical in tone, and gave a sense that she could calm even the most ill tempered dragon with a simple lullaby. She had given all the information proper to a greeting, though she decided to let Moria speak for herself. She could tell the indigo creature was nothing less than amused with the sudden appearance of a male who was at least twice her size. Saya knowing her partner far too well only sighed.
Moria was considering the pale dark haired girl with curiosity, catching a glimpse of green eyes. If one could over look the greeting, and even the incorrect color of the dragon, perhaps she could have been mistaken for an acolyte of the jade temple on the westward isle, but the woman didn’t carry herself as a scribe would. Disentangling herself from her private thoughts she finaly spoke, her voice floating through their minds in harmonic notes with saya’s audible tones.
“I am Moria, daughter of Inara and Zepehrei, Librarian, messanger, guardian and scribe of the indigo temple, bonded of Saya Akeakama.” She spouted in the usually long speech the dragons of her homeland used in the courts and temples. IT was vicously formal, but it was what one used in unfimilar company.”i
