This isn't exactly new news, but I wasn't sure if everybody knew about it.

It looks like Wuthering Heights got Twiraped.

I realize that most teenagers don't like to read their classics, the same way little kids don't like to eat their greens. But this is ridiculous. As if Wuthering Heights didn't already have it bad enough, being mentioned in the Twilight series, now it's got a new face that screams "BELLA AND EDWARD'S FAVORITE BOOK."

It really makes me sad.

Thoughts?

It makes me die inside a little. I couldn't imagine someone selling The Lord of The Rings with "Eragon's favourite book!" Stamped on it.
Bizarre.

btw, I saw the movie for the first time, and although it was not the worst I had ever seen, it was the single most boring thing I have ever seen in my life. Was utterly tedious.

This is how I feel about it:

No mames... X.X

Come on, get your stories published, so you and more people can daydream about seeing on the cover:

George R. Martin's Favourite!

Or Milton's, Dante's, Bocaccio's, Tolkien's, Poe's, Lovecraft's, Ariosto's, Dunsany's, Dostoyevsky's, Tolstoi's, Hugo's, Papini's, Virgil's, Lewis' and a most interesting long etc. =D

If they were alive... and if not, they should.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. Ugh. That's atrocious.

Let me clarify that. I never read Wuthering Heights and have no interest in doing so. It's not my kind of book.

But stamping a huge sign that says "Hey this is a fictional character's favorite book!" when it's not some sort of in-universe book later written out of curiosity about its contents is just... atrocious. I'm horrified.

I don't care what book that would be stamped on, this is such an obvious marketing ploy riding off the popularity of some ridiculous pop-culture phenomenon... ugh.

At least they were real people. What irks me the most is how Bella and Edward are TOTALLY FICTIONAL and marketers slap their names on a book in an attempt to boost sales.

What a pity.

To be fair, I found Wuthering Heights to be a terrible book, as well.

I think this marketing is really foolish, though, as I can't see a large portion of Twilight's fanbase enjoying Wuthering Heights, even if it is Edward and Bella's FAVORITE BOOK EVAR.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

I've seen the Twilight-pimped versions of Romeo and Juliet and some other 'romantic' book. Romeo and Juliet had some stupid caption about being 'the first forbidden romance.' And while I could see the forbidden aspects of Romeo and Juliet's tryst, I fail to see anything 'forbbiden' about Bella and Edward.

I guess the message here is that huge stylized pictures of flowers sell anything. If that is so, then if I ever get published then all the cover pictures of my books will be of Georgia O'Keefe's paintings...of flowers...yes, that will certainly sell.

-Twilight Suzuka- Feared assassin, kills only at dusk in only three moves. Uses a wooden bokken and focused inner energy, can use sword to 'throw' invisble spheres of chi. Martial art skills allow for great feats of strength, speed, balance and agility.

WIN!

-Twilight- Whiny, sparkling pseudo-vampires.

FAIL!

I found this to be horribly depressing. I liked Wuthering Heights, and I didn't know at first that it had been sucked into Twilight... Twilight also managed to ruin Clair de Lune and Pachelbel's Canon. Of course, that one was already played to death, but it just made it that much worse when it was mentioned in Breaking Dawn, and you know damn well that it will be in the BD movie...
