Okay, I've been obsessed with the HP series lately, and I really want to have a discussion about them ... no book section though. *tear* I'm shocked by you, ULX!!! In any case, this threads pretty general ... who's you favorite character, who do you think should get together, what do you think will happen next, etc. Here's a topic that's sure to start a conversation with Pinkie (and perhaps ULX) .... Harry/Ginny all the way! Seriously, though, read OotP really carefully. You'll start to notice that Harry is hyper aware of where Ginny is throughout the book - and a ton of times she's really close to him! As for the coughout answer that "she's over him", look more carefully at the quote: "She's given up on him. It's not exactly the same. *cough*believemeiknow*cough*cough* Favorite characters: Fred, George, Harry, Ginny Least Favorite of the trio: Hermione What I think of Luna Lovegood: *shug* Neville is ... : more important than people think (last standing in DoM showdown, book 5) Share your thoughts please!!!!

Wow... This is hard to think of a response to. Hmmm... perhaps it's just because it's 1:40 in the morning. After the blatant HermionexRon, I guess that leaves lucky ole Harry a bachelor. There are no obvious females to try him to (Cho being out of most people's pictures by the end of OotP), I guess Ginny would be a fine match. I'm ready to see Ginny as a serious character, but I can't really see her as a romantic person. I agree about the quote. So as soon as Harry realizes Ginny's there, then they'll fall in love? Seems plausible enough... Favorite Characters: Snape Favorite Extremely Minor Character: Arthur Least Favorite Overall: Petigrew Least Favorite of the Trio: Ron... I guess... because I never really focus on him. I love them all though. Luna Lovegood: Did she have an actual purpose? *can't remember* Neville: will save the day! Just kidding. But he is going to be important. And/or have some hidden magical talent -- or just belief in himself.

I think that the literary section would be considered the book section, Alex.
Harry and Ginny doesn't strike me. Ginny is become Fred and George-ish... Independant and with a great sense of humor. She's becoming more of her own character than just a swooning girl who follows Harry around. Plus, with Harry being such a jerk 'n all, I don't want her getting mixed up in a potentially emotionally harmful relationship. so he better clean up his act, dangit.
Megan's least favorite is Ron... *mutters to self*
I just wanna see Ron and Hermione. Screw Harry's love life, he's being mean.
Favorite character(s): Ron, Sirius, Lupin Favorite minor character: Fred, George--Okay, they're not really minor, but they're not exactly mainstream... Favorite extremely minor character: Arnie, that guy in GoF who they heard by the water pump who wouldn't put on pants. He was wearing a dress and said he liked a "healthy breeze round my privates, thanks." I love that guy. Least Favorite: Pettigrew... and the OotF DADA teacher was terrible, but I can't remember her name--I've only read the book once. Maybe I'll start it now. Neville: Sounds like someone I would end up dating ><. He'll do something important, just like Ron. Ron will save the day.

I've been debating with myself, wondering wether I should argue a point ... and her I finally am ready to argue it.
Harry in OotP wasn't right, but he was justified. Think about for a second; 14 years of anger and pain and humiliation from the Dursleys (also neglect bordering on abuse). The fact that Harry didn't start to show his anger before OotP is actually surprising. I mean, the guy has a ton of issues. I can get more in depth if you want. I can probably write an entire essay on the subject.
But in any case, I've found that in the world of 'shipping, Harry/Anyone shippers try to argue that Anyone (i.e., Luna, Hermione, Ginny) is the best at calming Harry down, snapping him out of his bad moods, etcetera.
Another belief that I see a lot is that the summer before sixth year is going to be a healing period for Harry. He's going to have the shortest stay with the Dursleys ever. Besides, it's a kid's series, and I doubt JK Rowling will have Angsty!Teenage!Harry for the rest of the series.
By the way, everyone knows by now that the title of book 6 is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, right? Does anyone have any guesses about who the Half-Blood Prince is?

Okay, stepping in, since I'm apparently the only sane one around here.
There is going to be absolutely minimal romance, guys. It doesn't matter whether it's Harry-Hermione, Ron-Hermione, Harry-Ginny, Snape-Harry, Ron-Scabbers, Percy-Dumbledor, it just doesn't matter (and I just disturbed myself. I hope no one has written those yet.) Get your hopes up as high as you want, it ain't gonna happen.
As for Harry's blowups...I have a little more insight I'd guess, being as I am also a teenage guy around the same age. Horomones are doing nothing to improve his way of thinking, he's got people going around his back, hiding things, treating him like a child, the whole his family was murdered bit, the Dursleys, Malfoy, Snape, Voldemort, Umbridge...yeah, he's got every right to blow up.
My theory for the half-blood prince...well, we know Seamus is a Half-Blood, she made sure to tell us that...all though Dean Thomas WAS supposed to be important...did they say how pure his blood is?
Favorite character(s): Ron, my HP-Homeboy Favorite minor character: Nearly-Headless Nick, mainly because he's played by John Cleese in the movies. So we have to see more of him. Least Favorite: Tie between Umbirdge and Snape, and you can all piss off, flamers. He's an ugly, greasy bastard. No more, no less. And she's a toad. Least Favorite of the Trio: Eh...I'd have to say Hermione. She really was irritating in the first book, and she's so...secondary. Eh. Luna: Interesting...but probably minor for the rest of the series. Neville: Is going to continue to be a minor character. Get over it.

Yeah, Seamus is half-blood. Dean thinks he's muggle-born, but on her site JKR says that he's actually a half-blood. And I have no clue who the Half-Blood Prince is. I've heard so many good theories that I can't decide who's more likely.
Yes, ULX, I know romance will be kept at a minumum. I just want you to go to Mugglenet's forums, look at the Love Threads or whatever they're called, and admit it's not a big deal amung the HP fandom. I've heard of people who say that if so and so don't get together, they'll burn their HP books. *shrugs* Go figure.
And if Luna and Neville aren't significant, why include them in the DoM showdown? I'm just curious. It seems weird, doesn't it?

... Amusing. As a Snarry shipper I would have to say half the fun I derive from such a vile ship is letting Snape really work Harry up until he's simply bursting with anger. Why bother calming people down and making them happy when we can get all those sparks of anger really flowing! Then... to comment on what ULX said. TIE between Snape and Umbridge? How horrible! Snape's not nearly as bad as her. She was just... *shudder*. And I know Snape is a greasy bastard. That's how the joy of loving him. And we know he's ugly. I'm really tempted to use Mandy's comeback right here, but I won't. I'll just ignore that bit and not give you a lecture on the inexplainable things about lust... Wow... Ron/scabbers? Percy/Dumbledore? *gives ULX an odd look*

I was just naming random characters...which was a bad idea.

Then they can burn their books, waste their money, and rot. Stupid...obssessive...psychotic...fangirl...fanboy...gack!

Because J.K.R. loves keeping us guessing, perhaps? Maybe she just likes the characters enough to give them their fifteen minutes, and then, once their use and plot thread has completed, slip back into 2-D-tude.

Which comeback would that be, Megan? And yes, your unhealthy obsession with Snape is quite inexplicable. And okay, maybe Umbridge isn't quite as bad as Snape. But he's still right up there with her and Pettigrew. And Draco. And Lucius. And Winky. And about half the rest of the cast. Characters easily bug me.
| QUOTE (justcallmepip) | | Megan's least favorite is Ron... *mutters to self* |
I second that motion. *Glares at Edmonds/Megan* And you know what's wierd (but probably not unexpected)? Voldemort is one of my favorite characters, because he is an excellent villain. He's not too egotistical, because he knows he has weaknesses. He faces up to them, conquers them, and then gloats, because he deserves it. He is sadistic, maniacle, and very, very realistic. This makes him far more fearsome than any other character, because he could (on a less magical/immortal level) exist somewhere. In fact, he did. Hitler. Creepy, ne? Well, I'll go now. Let the flaming commence. Ninja Out -ULX

Yes, that was a bad idea. ::banishing images of Ron and his rat from her mind:: EDIT: Actually, it's even worse than Ron and his rat. It's Ron and Pettigrew. I think I really AM going to be sick now. /EDIT Luna and Neville ARE significant, darn it. Minor characters are as important as major characters if not more so. In my opinion it's a lot harder to write a minor character, because you have a lot less time to get through the important detail. Comeback: So is your face, but I'm complaining. ...Ha. I didn't mean my lust. I meant Harry, the perfectly normal teenage boy with his angsty fits and hormones. And every other person who actually allows themselves to lust or love or whatever without ... conservative restrictions. Mmm... shouldn't I be muttering at you for making fun of Hermione? We females, unlike you males, hardly have any really good female role models in popular fiction nowadays. It's a good thing we have people like Hermione. Grr. Don't you mean Snape isn't quite as bad as Umbridge? He's got many redeeming qualities... like being on the correct side, unlike Pettigrew and Voldemort and Draco and Lucius. And helping them out, at the risk of his life. I don't hate Ron. I just had to pick one of them. I could very well hate Hermione and I couldn't very well hate Harry now could I? *flames the **** out of you*
