READ ONLY STATUS, Effective Feb. 17, 2008

Hey! Just in case you aren't on our email list or did not receive your email from us, I'm posting the message here.

Greetings Dept of Mysteries Members!

It has been a busy six months or since the release of Deathly Hallows and we hope they've been good months for you. We thought it was probably time to check in with you all and update you on the status of the board.
When the dust settled after the release of DH, we experienced a much-expected decline in posting. After all, we all know what happens now, right? Further, the admins and mods have all experienced a drastic increase in other committments. The combined effect is a board in limbo. We felt it was best to do something definite and here is the plan.
Effective February 1, 2008, the Dept of Mysteries message board will revert to Read Only status. This will allow members to access old posts and the private message system but there will be no new posting. The board remains intact and available should JKR announce anything regarding the release of a Harry Potter encyclopedia or any other project. Should something of that nature occur, the Dept of Mysteries will reopen for posting.
We would like to thank you all for your contributions over the years. We've enjoyed the time we've spent in contact with all of you and we're so glad we had the chance to do this.

yeah wow, it has been fun. I've been posting on this board and the old net54 board since i was in 7th grade and now im a sophomore in college. crazy how time flies. good luck to everybody.

I don't see what the point is, really. There's not even a need for moderation at this point. Just my 0.02¢

Well, it's been good times.

Just a thought though- can we maybe open it up when the movies come out? I know most of us don't care for their interpretations of the books, but there may be a few interesting discussions/debates.

Well, we did discuss whether or not to leave a section open for movie discussion but, honestly, there has been so little activity for such a long time, we felt it wasn't really something people were interested in having.

As we said, we will leave the board intact as an archive and if anything new arises, we will certainly reopen the board for posting. If you find y'all miss having the board open, you are always free to contact any of the mods and let us know. We're open to suggestions and ideas.
