You will notice I like to type alot. XD
Since Charles decided to post up his whole history with me, I decide I'll top that. I'll post up my whole history with BYOND.
I used to be a huge Final Fantasy XI fanatic, till one day an ex-friend of mine told me about this program called BYOND and told me about all of these Dragonball Z online games. I heard that they were 2D games, but it mattered not to me. I even said "screw FFXI!" at that time when I heard about it.
I told a couple of my friends about this and they all decided to try it. The only game we knew about the time though was of DBTC which we played and thought it was horrible. Luckly at the end of the weekend I found this one game called Dragonball Z Live 2 and was completely addicted to it but it was so laggy that I had to try some other games. I eventually became very addicted to Zeta rips and I played them all of the time. My obsession completely interferred with my FFXI gameplay and friends... I lost contact with alot of them till my contract with FFXI completely expired. Which I regret now...to be honest.
I played DBL2 as much as I could, but being spam killed was a huge damper on my ambition to play such a thing. Zeta Rips were still great to me. I still played these games like crazy though it was mostly the same thing over and over of me becoming very strong then chasing everyone across the game and killing them. Then the same thing happening to me. I would play them all night at my father's house.
One of the most fun but I found the least populated games was a little game known as Majins and Mystics Remastered. I played as much as I could, and they would PWIPE all of the time. I would hit Super Saiyan 2 every weekend and I was one of the more memorable people there, well not during MMR's time. During that time I had a few run ins with people I would soon become big friends with.
I would run into this one guy named Master, and we'd always fight and I would always win, it was always interesting in that aspect to watch such a sight.
One day, MMR went through a major change in the aspect of the map. Master introduced me to a guy named Legend. After a while Legend got the bright idea of killing me and that in turn I decided to kill everyone in that room.
For days we went through a series of killing each other and became pretty good friends with both him and a guy named GT killing Master.
For weeks and weeks to months and months we had fun with having different adventures on this place now called Elysium.
By now I had tons of friends and tons of enemies, and I had introduced friends to BYOND now as well. A friend named Alca told me about this game that was going to be made by him and his friends and I could be apart of it. I didn't think twice before I said "you bet!" and I applied for this game.
I was undoubtably accepted and we waited what felt like months for this game but it turned out to be only a week of waiting. Thanks to hurricane Katrina I guess that is what made me feel that way.
This game turned out to be a huge flop and a Zeta rip and we were spammed, like crazy we were spammed. I could swear that my computer is 10 times worse from all of the spam.
At that moment I felt it was my duty to track down the spammer and stop it some how...I was stupid I know. Through AOL direct connect the spammer found out my IP address. I was determined that I was going to be hacked and I was going to screw everything up for everyone...like I said I was a moron.
Through my misery, SasukeV, one of the people who was moderating the game said he had a friend who could make me a moderator of a Naruto game. I was interested since I believed that it would be rough working on Chaos Era ( the name of the game I was moderating).
So on AOL I met this guy, his name was Ryo Kaneshiro. I tried talking to the guy, but he mainly ignored me and made these funny faces like "O_o" "O_O" ">_>" etc. I honestly didn't know how to react to this, I just kept trying to talk about my potential employment and he would just ignore me. I don't blame him now...who likes a guy who always asks about getting a GM position?
Somehow, I became quite fond of these emoticons and use them even today...
I think one major thing that set us off was this thing I like to call, the likkle ninja episode. A guy named Likkle Ninja applied on three games, Elysium, Chaos Era, and Naruto Exile (Ryo's game) Once this happened I went nuts and started flaming the guy talking about how he was just selfish and I was going to protect the game from him. I was idiotically trying to defend his game in a childish manner.
This in turn set off Ryo in an angry manner to yell at us, though I managed to get him fired at Chaos Era, but I was repremanded in Elysium. Ryo hired Likkle.
After a week later of waiting for Chaos Era of coming up, things seemed hopeless. I didn't know what to say or do. I was actually asking the staff's opinion by then, but they would then ignore me. At the time in Elysium Hant had disappeared and everything was in chaos in that game.I guess one could say that it was a "Chaos Era" I then decided I had enough there had to be some way of creating a good game.
During all of this happening I don't know what happened, but Ryo and I starting talking alot, I think it was thanks to SasukeV we started talking, we became talking about everything. I brought up some ideas about games and we just talked, about anything and everything. Ryo had then helped me out alot and became a great friend.
I got to talking to Legend about a game that would be completely Zeta Rip free, all six cities of DBZ and it would be great and we had several plans for the game. We all though it was great. I got to talking to other people ingame on Elysium about maping and things and I met some people. At that time I had first gotten MSN messenger and I was surprised how great the interface was compared to AOL. I met two people to meet up with Ryo and we could talk out the plan for this new game but we all decided to start talking in Elysium.
Through all of this excitement I asked "who is the owner?" People just laughed and made jokes, it was apparent that I was supposed to be the owner, though I didn't think I would be right for the job. Needless to say...I was right.
We got to working on the game right away once I found a pretty good friend of mine named Genocide. Who decided the name of the game "Dragonball: Fury" He was a grand Graphics Artist and came up with several ideas for the game.
We had a map of green, no chat system, and a base icon. That was it. It was an mediocre start, but it wouldn't be possible without Ryo. After a while we got some chat verbs, and some admin verbs and the game just turned out to be a huge "play music and have fun with it" kind of place on BYOND...something I thought was alright, but now I think of it as horrible.
The next three months were horrible and chaotic, though I did not think it was, in fact I thought we were doing great though we were making centimeter by centimeter progress. Every week was the exact same thing over and over. Ryo would talk to me a little, I would yell at Legend (at the time he was spamming the board with useless information), fight SasukeV about Legend while he was defending him, and other things. Needless to say, things were going nowhere.
Ryo was constantly finding things that distracted me from the actual idea of progressing the game, with me starting new projects and playing new games and all of the above. One day, Ryo decided to start a Naruto project with me and it was made quite quickly, and we were testing it on New Years Eve. I don't know what happened that day, but I had exploded with anger towards Legend and allowed the medium officer in my game (Kanashii) deny posting rights to Legend.
Ryo noticed this and we were torn between sides and I had to make the deciding factor. Everyone at the time was filled with fury, except me, I had enough of this anger, which was going on for months now. I wanted everyone to shut up and I wanted to ditch this project, I wanted to quit everything and stop everything.
Ryo ended up making Legend "High Master Enforcer"...yeah...
Ryo, SasukeV, and Legend disappeared for 6 months for unknown reasons...
The next two months were a complete blur, I remember them well though in some aspects. The current coder (Chris) was creating more glitches than progress and I had fired him for a guy named Gazza. We started over and all I remember once we started over was my temper.
I was always so angry, I yelled at everyone, I flamed everyone. And the one day we had the game up I was going crazy with insults.
I couldn't take BYOND anymore, I had to do something so I took a break...I tried EVE online for 2 months and was bored to tears. I discovered lots of anime to watch.
I actually at the time decided I had quit, and I really never wanted to return to BYOND.
I was bored for one month..I didn't know what to do, it was June and I couldn't take it. Nothing happened though... Just a bunch of anime watching.
July, Ryo reappeared asking me if I had blocked him, and introduced me to Ragnorak Online, one of the most addictive experiences since FFXI for me.
One day everyone quit, said they were bored...
I decided we should make our own server for Rag, tried it and lost all of my software...
One week later, I got my software back and Ryo decided to beat me to death (Charles knows what I'm talking about) till I got my game back up. "To make it a success" he would say.
So we started it back up and I found alot more progress than I thought I would see, I met a great coder by the name of Dan and was met a great guy by the name of Agito. I was amazed by his iconing ability and couldn't wait to see what we would do with this game thanks to him.
My game returned, and eventually so would the old people who played it, same bad memories. That's irrelevant though.
Eventually, Ryo found another distraction for us by the name of Pirate King online, we were addicted for one weekend but then were disappointed by the fact that you could only have one person in a ship at a time. There was an upside there though, I met a friend of mine who goes by the name of Sanji.
Months of progress went by and eventually Dan had enough of trying to find Agito (or if you prefer, Charles or Zoro) and I had asked around and found Ryo. He told me that Agito was playing Naruto Narutimate Hero 3 and I wouldn't log back on at all, I was..to say the least..speechless. I had to find subsitute while waiting for Charles's return, but this in turn made Dan disappear for World of Warcraft.
This threw me into a world of fury, I decided I had quit BYOND again due to the fact that everyone had abandoned me again on my project (I have had a huge history of my staff completely disappearing). During all of this time I spent was all all finding things to do.
In attempting to find things to do I was unsuccessful which led to major boredom. During this period I was determined I would return to FFXI...but my dad said he was going to get me a wii instead, so I was disheartened.
Recently...
Ryo decided that we'd start the project again and somehow I agreed. He brought Charles back in the conversation and to say the least, it was a quiet conversation and awkward. After a bit of fussing, nothing was settled.
Eventually after a few conversations we became friends again, and started talking about Bleach and Death Note alot.
One day, I discovered this grand game called Mafia and played it a great deal and I introduced it to Charles on a saturday and we played it all day, all Sunday, and all Monday. At the same time that weekend I watched two episodes of death note and read 30 chapters.
Eventually...it hit me! I've got it, I know how to make a death note game! A month before Ryo told me about making a Death Note game but I had said it would be stupid and some animes like Death Note should never be made into a game. I thought that a premise probably couldn't be brought up.
I discussed my ideas and everyone seemed to like it.
And... I suppose now we are here. XD
