This is just to test the waters. I have been working on a fantasy manga set in an original world of my own design. And I would like to do a RP set in it. One where the players are free to do as they see in a world that is recovering from the brink of destruction. I'm going to post some stuff I wrote about the settings and races in the world. If anyone is willing to join I'll make a sign up thread with some character sheet templates.
Setting As explained Lindorm is set in an original fantasy world, that is unlike any other fantasy out there. The game will take place on the same continent as the series does. The kingdoms that exist here are the Empire, Kunsar, Almaroth, Barbaranc, Desitica, and Loriladoria. The Empire is a vast but war torn realm ruled over by the royal Ehrol family and regionally governed by smaller noble families who all owe their allegiance to the current king or queen. The throne is not determined by a patriarchal system, simply by virtue of next of kin. There have been several coups throughout the Empire’s history, one that lasted for 15 years and was overthrown just recently by the surviving Ehrols. Currently the Empire is ruled by Queen Memoria Ehrol and her brother Prince Brandon Ehrol. The Empire is the largest and most diverse kingdom in the known world. The north is mountainous and borders the sea. Only a few remote and scattered villages exist here, the largest, Trinstrim, was destroyed in an act of war three years ago. The climate is cold and alpine as the mountains are high and treacherous. If you can brave the mountains you might find your way to the kingdom of Kunsar. Southwest of the mountains is the sea. Here the great river Siniron empties into the ocean and a vast system of deltas and swamps form. It is also here that the great merchant city of Cardia is located. Cardia is the second largest and most prosperous city in the Empire. Directly south of the mountains the horizon becomes flat. This is the heartland of the Empire, where most of its citizens live in rural farming communities. Feed by the Siniron most of the Empires food is grown here. In the center of this vast and fertile region lies the great capital city of Ehrolsgrad. Its towering basilicas and gothic architecture are a wonder of the world, and people from across the Empire flock to the capital in hopes of making a fortune, but few succeed. Ehrolsgrad is probably the largest city in the known world, and despite being prosperous there is a vast distinction in living conditions between the rich and the poor. The royal palace is located here. South of the plans you will reach the Empires southernmost border. Beyond are the vast and mysterious forests of Loriladoria, the haven of the Eldar. Few people venture into the forest, for it is said to be protected by an ancient and nasty race of treekin. The Empire maintains almost no ties with the Eldar, as the dying race prefers to keep to itself, although a secret alliance between the Eldar and the Ehrol family will see them called to battle if the need is dire. The only other place of note down here is the fortress of Blackmore, secret headquarters of the Knights of the Crimson Dawn. West of the plains you will find the border with Almaroth. The land here is often contested between the two countries and occasionally wars will breakout. At the current time the Empire maintains strong ties with the merchant kingdom. Finally northwest of the plains is the barren and windswept land of Barbaranc. The border stops here too, for the Empire has seen no need to venture into the brutal and infertile lands that lie beyond. A few small close nit communities live here. There are also many armed border stations here too, to protect the heartland from constant assaults by barbarians. West of the Empire is the merchant kingdom of Almaroth. Almaroth has no official king. Instead the ruler is democratically elected by from one of the elector count families by guild leaders. The current ruler, known as the Master of the Guilds, is Shiran Aramatas. Almaroth is the only country that is allowed to trade with the secretive and veiled people of Desitica, that lies south across the sea. Therefore the wealth of Almaroth comes not from gold and silver like the Empire, but from rare spices, ivory, and other exotic goods and fabrics. Almaroth commands a considerable navy that protects its vast merchant fleets from pirates that flock the ocean. Almaroth has little useable farmland, and derives most of its food from either trade with the Empire or from the sea. West of Almaroth is a vast and untraversable desert which is said to be the ancestral home of the wyverns. So far all attempts to conquer the desert have met with futility. The capital of Almaroth (also called Almaroth) is also the spiritual capital for the Church of the Silver Hand, and each year thousands of pilgrims journey to the Basilica of the Gods. There are hushed rumors that the city of Almaroth is built on top of a much ancient city, one dedicated to a heathen death cult, and that the catacombs below the great metropolis are filled with grizzly images of death and decay, and angry spirits who refuse to die. Finally north of the Empire is Kunsar. Kunsar is a simple feudal society, where the peasants swear fealty to the knights and the knights swear fealty to the king. The current ruler is the young Prince Theomire, who rules in the place of his old and dying father. Kingship is determined by a patriarchal lineage and women are refused from holding the throne. If there is no heir then usually a tournament is held amongst the knights will determine the next ruling family. The climate up here is cold and harsh, and the Kunsar are a rugged but noble people, who frequently fight to protect their homes from the savage men of Barbaranc. The true wealth of Kunsar comes from its horses, who are much sort in the other kingdoms. The horses of Kunsar are much like its people, strong and noble beasts who will never betray their masters even in the thick of battle. The Kunsar are some of the best horsemen in the world, and maintain a vast and well structured cavalry that patrols its borders. The Kunsar are currently allies of the Empire. -------------------- There hath he lain for ages and will lie,
Battening on huge seaworms in his sleep; Until the latter fire shall heat the deep; Then once by man and angels to be seen, In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die. |

For the purposes of not having my post going on for ever, I'm going to have the race description in another post. Hope that's cool.
Races: One thing that sets Lindorm apart from other fantasies is what it lacks. Unlike other fantasies which have elves, and dwarves, and trolls, and orcs, Lindorm has very few races, and most of them are draconic. Here are a list of the races of man, Eldar, and leviathan. Lowlander: The name that refers to the humans who live in the Empire and Almaroth. The lowlanders are a diverse sort since they live in some of the largest parts of the known world. They are of a fair complexion with hair colors that range from blonde, brown, and black. They are skilled craftsman and soldiers, and can take just about any occupation or career there is. Lowlanders get no bonuses, but no penalties either. Typically best for players new to forum RPs. Kunsar: Humans from the northern realm of Kunsar. They are of a very fair complexion and are more susceptible then the lowlanders, due to living so far north. Hair color is either blonde or red. Kunsar characters will get a bonus towards riding horses, however they take a penalty in combat when on ships. The Kunsar are not a sea faring people. Barbarian: They cruel and barbaric men of the north have a slightly darker complexion then lowlanders and have hair that is almost always black. They are excellent fighters and have stamina well above other human races. Barbarian characters get a bonus with close combat fighting, but a penalty when it comes to charisma based feats. Desitican: The mysterious people from the lands beyond the south seas almost never mingle with outsiders. Desiticans usually veil their faces when dealing with outsiders, but underneath they have a brown to almost black complexion and hair that is either jet black, or a silvery white. Desitican characters gain a bonus when it comes to stealth, but suffer penalties when it comes to persuading non-Desiticans, as outsiders are typically just as prejudiced against them as they are the outside. Eldar: The Eldar are distant relatives of humans in fact many Eldar claim that humans descended from Eldar. The Eldar live long lives, but are not truly immortal and age at a rate ten times slower than humans. Eldar have slender, beautiful faces with long pointed ears and hair and eye color that can range in almost any color imaginable, but blue and green being the most common. Since Eldar live for so long, they have more time to hone their skills, and are terrifyingly skilled fighters. Their empire was destroyed five hundred years ago and so most Eldar now live in their secluded castle-haven in the forests of Loriladoria, and almost never venture forth to mingle with humans. Eldar are best when it comes to the bow or lance, and gain a bonus for each, but cannot wear heavy armor as it restricts their natural grace. Dragon: These massive, legendary, and noble creatures once ruled the world, but their time is waning. Dragons do not usually interfere with humans or Eldar unless they have to. They live all over the world and have no real home. Dragons breathe fire, can grow up to be ten feet tall with a twenty foot wingspan, and are truly immortal. Their scales come in a wide variety of colors, red, blue, green, brown, and black being the most common. Dragon males have a stockier build with a box shaped head and two pairs of horns. Females on the other are more slender with a more serpent like head and only one pair of horns. Their color usually does not reflect their personality however. Due to their size dragons cannot entire buildings or small dungeons, but they have colossal strength and are very intimidating. Wyvern: A relative of the dragon, wyverns have long been the ancestral enemies of dragons, but now they live in a cold, but mutual peace. Wyverns are distinguished from dragons by a lack front legs, instead only having a pair of wings and hind legs. Wyverns also lack any horns and instead of a row of barbs running down their backs, and are usually light green or grayish in color. Unlike dragons wyverns don’t breathe fire but can spite a corrosive acid and have a venomous barb on their tail, but like dragons they too are immortal. The only distinction between male and female is that females have black markings under their eyes. Wyverns have the same strength and size as dragons, and suffer the same restrictions with buildings. Lindorm: The series is named after these dragon-like creatures due to their importance in the original story. Lindorms are like dragons, but they don’t have wings and only have a single pair of legs. Lindorms grow to be about five feet tall and can only live a thousand years, similar to the Eldar. The most common colors for lindorms are green, blue, or maroon, and female lindorms lack the horns of their male counterparts. Like their dragon relatives lindorms can breathe fire and since they are smaller they don’t suffer the same size restrictions. But since lindorms have no hands or claws, they can’t hold anything. Naga: Naga are not a playable race but still may be encountered. Distant relatives of the dragons, naga gave up the air or the land and instead live in the ocean. They have long sinuous tales, and long serpentine neck with a serpents head, and a pair of arms used for swimming. Naga don’t have horns but instead have rows of fins running down their backs. Naga are usually blue like the sea, but their fins can be any multitude of colors. Naga stick to themselves and are almost never seen by the other races, and because of this there is very little else known about them. They only come onto land to lay their eggs and raise their young, and they do so in secluded beaches known only to them. -------------------- There hath he lain for ages and will lie,
Battening on huge seaworms in his sleep; Until the latter fire shall heat the deep; Then once by man and angels to be seen, In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die. |
