Okay, let's try writing some decent haiku (not the silly rhyming ones some of us have been spewing in the games section). I'll start with this one:
Chiffchaff in tree top
Goes chiff, chaff, chiff, chaff, chiff, chaff ...
March is heard in song.
This is a haiku about the first chiffchaff I heard this year (2010). As you know, the song of this warbler consists of a series of clear, very rhythmically paced notes, which can call to mind the idea of soldiers marching. Well, I heard that bird in the month of March - so this is a "punny" haiku.

March hares in a field
Running here, there, everywhere,
A spring in their step.

Off she goes again,
Irritating as a crow
And as black as one.

They flock together
Huddled on branches of trees,
Starling buds of May.

Mystery poet “the Bored Baker” leaves haiku poems in packets of Sainsbury’s cookies

A mystery baker has taken to expressing their disdain at work by penning haiku poems and covertly slipping them into packets of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference biscuits.

Each poem is signed off: “A haiku, by the Bored Baker” and a Twitter account with the handle @theboredbaker has also been set up after people began posting pictures of the poems on social media.

The author’s identity remains unknown, although Sainsbury’s were quick to assure shoppers the person was no longer employed by the company.
