It was a weekend, so of course the beach was packed. He actually hadn't been planing to work, but David had apparently broken a toe and he'd had to replace him. All things considered it wasn't a bad way to spend a Saturday. Of course, if someone started drowning he'd rethink that quickly. But usually people did pretty well with the whole, not drowning thing. He'd only had to rescue a handful of people the two years he'd been working there.

And he wasn't expecting trouble -- though of course he was keeping a sharp eye out. That's what life guards did, right? Guard life. But it seemed like the girls were more interested in sunbathing and the guys in watching the girls sunbathe. Not that he could argue with the idea. Well, except in a few noticeable cases.

Shuddering slightly he turned away from the obese woman in a tight two piece, he scanned the water again. Everyone was alright. That was all he cared about. He knew some of his work mates spent their shift just flirting with girls, and he'd be a liar to say he never did it. But he didn't search them out. Seemed they were randomly drawn to life guards. Which might have just been because, compared to some of the other guys on the beach, they were usually the most in shape. Which, in his case, was because of swimming, soccer and martial arts. He didn't have the body builder look of course, but he was pretty sure that if it came down to a fist fight he'd come out the winner.

Tapping his fingers lightly against the arm of the chair he covered a yawn and continued to keep an eye out for misfortunes. He was pretty sure one of the girls to his left -- he didn't know her from anywhere but she'd been eyeing him -- was working up the nerve to come flirt with him. His grin was certainly charming enough. Not that he cared much. It was just a way to pass the time.

The beach had been one of those ideas that had been planted in Elaine's mind since the previous Thursday, when she drove by it on the way to get to one of her friends houses. Being one of the people who live near the beach, the beach quickly becomes overrated. But she hadn't been to the beach in a while, and she of course, was in need of refreshing her tan.

With her pink polka-dotted bikini closely fitted to her body, she walked along the beach. This was one of those things that continuously bothered her. Why was the beach always full in the dead of winter? It's winter damnit, so why is everyone here?! She was forced to weave around people, while avoiding stepping on any of their belongings. And of course, there was no sign of an open spot for her to put her things down.

She let out an annoyed sigh as she walked along, her face now contorted into an obvious frustrated look as she searched for a spot. And then she spotted the lifeguard station. Granted, it wasn't nessicerily a place to sit, but it was a place to flirt while she waited for a spot to clear. Even if she was still to far to tell who the lifeguard on duty was, it was obvious that the guy sitting atop of the seat was fit.. and that was good enough for her.

Elaine didn't actually look up towards the top of the lifeguard seat until she was about ten feet away from it, knowing that any further and it would have been a strain to try and figure out who the man was. But once she realized who the mysterious lifeguard was, her face quickly changed from the frustrated look to a full-faced grin, and she continued towards the seat.

"I didn't know you were on duty, today!" She said softly, before letting out a simple chuckle. "What a nice suprise."

He'd taken his eye off the girl he was sure was going to get up the nerve to approach soon, and had glanced down the beach and over the water again. He doubted much had changed, but it would really well and truly suck if something happened and he was too busy waiting for a girl to approach him. It wasn't a drowning persons fault if he was bored. Making sure that everyone was relatively safe again, he glanced around and noticed the girl who'd been eyeing him looking down. Arching an eyebrow at that he didn't have long to question as a voice drew his attention to the other side.

Ah. Ellie.

Flashing the charming grin he was so well known for he was well behaved enough to keep his eyes on her face instead of roaming. He'd been watching tons of girls in bathing suits all day. This one he actually knew and was friends with, so charming and polite he would be. "I wasn't supposed to be. I'm covering for someone. And seeing you here is most definitely a nice surprise." Considering everyone he went to school with lived near the beach it was a rare occurrence in deed to see one at it. At least, to see one at it when they weren't skipping a class to be there.

But considering that she was a native he was betting she was either showing friends from out of town around -- and the absence of people made it clear that wasn't an option, or catching a few rays and working on her tan. He wasn't sure why girls were always so hell bent on being tan, but as long as they didn't end up orange from fake tanner he didn't care much either way. Though he had to admit that at moments with previous 'relationships' he'd been hard pressed not to laugh at some very odd tan lines. For example, a triangle on each breast just looked humorous if the tan was dark enough. And it was often hard not to notice things like that. But it was doubtful they'd be getting a nude beach anytime soon, so he'd just continue to not question it. That was usually the safest way to go.

"What brings you down to the beach today anyways?" He was fairly sure of the answer. Though it was always possible she was meeting someone later. But it was polite to ask anyways. And he was nothing if not charming. To people's faces at least.

Elaine let out a chuckle under her breath, her cheeks becoming a slight shade of pink. It was obvious the boy was trying his hardest not to stray from her face, but wasn't that the point of wearing a bikini? At least it was for most girls, including Elle. Plus, she would have been lying to herself if she hadn't thought of the fact that Jason may have been on duty today. She always dressed for the possible occasions.

Elle softly nodded as he explained as to why he was on duty. "Ah, i see." She replied simply as he finished, before turning and looking around the beach. She noted to herself that nobody was out too far in the water, and everyone was behaving themselves, before turning back to Jason. "Well, it seems that you're doing a fairly good job." She said, a small smirk on her face.

Elaine looked down for a brief second, while she switched her beach bag to her other arm. Of course, she had filled it with all of the nessicery items; sunblock, a towel, an extra pair of flip flops, a book, her ipod, etc. She basically used it as a much larger version of a purse. After a few seconds, she returned her gaze towards Jason, as he began to ask her as to why she was there. "Oh, you know." She began, with a soft shrug. "Catching up on the tan, laughing at tourists, checking out hot guys.. the usual." She replied, before letting out a laugh.

{{sorry if that sucked, my mind is bleh.}}

Jason continued to grin, even when Ellie started to blush. It actually wasn't hard to keep his eyes on her face and away from anything else. He had seen her at the beach a time or two, and she did have a nice body. But the fact that there were whole squads of girls running around similarly dressed with nice bodies -- and when he didn't have someone to talk to he didn't have much else to do -- made it fairly easy to resist just staring at hers. When he was still gangly as hell it would've been harder to resist, mainly because he hadn't been one to come to the beach a lot and certainly wouldn't have been used to the sight. But he was now. And besides, Elaine had a very pretty face.

His charming grin turned into a smirk for a moment before reverting back, "I don't think that's so much me as people just generally feeling like behaving. But I suppose, if I must," and here he touched his fingertips to his heart, "I can take credit for it." Glancing around the beach again, his gaze came back to her just in time to see her shift her bag from arm to arm. There wasn't any place -- well, any good place -- for her to settle in her blanket.

His nature was telling him to just stay where he was, it would be easier. But his gentleman act was too strongly ingrained at this point to resist, and considering how many people had secrets in the school, information, even of the innocent kind, always traveled fiendishly fast.

So instead of just staying where he was he stood up and stepped to the side of his chair, "Why don't you sit down, lovely? Just until a spot opens up for you of course." Waiting for her to accept the seat he leaned his shoulder against the side of the back of the chair and crossed his arms -- again scanning the beach. Her reason for being there had been what he'd expected, and he chuckled lightly at it.
