The Salon's 2nd Fanfic Contest

On June 18, the Dbz Fanfic Salon will celebrate its first year anniversary!
In honor of that event, we're having a fic contest with nice juicy prizes! (no, not Saiyan beefcake! We're talking cash value!) You, the members of the Salon, have spoken in the polls, and the administration has picked your favorite theme for the contest: A FINAL CONFRONTATION.
Simply, all entered fics must feature a dramatic show-down between any two Dbz characters OR between a Dbz character and an Original Character. The fic may be of any genre--romance, action, comedy, horror, etc. Brother against brother? Wife against husband? Good against Evil? Villain against villain? You decide. We want the sparks to fly. We hope that the theme is broad enough to appeal to our diverse membership and yet narrow enough to make the judging criteria fair when it comes time for our members to vote on winning fics. Now, go forth and write dramatic showdown fics that will entertain the fandom like another World Martial Arts Tournament!
Here are the rules:


* You must be a registered member of the Salon to participate.

* Manuscripts must be no more than 8000 words and in .html or .doc format. Include a title and rating (G, PG, PG-13, R or NC-17). Standard disclaimers and warnings (if necessary) should be included.

* All entries will be posted at a website where all may read the stories (but only Salon members will be able to vote on their favorite).

*Entries will be posted anonymously. Disclaimers or notes that contain identifying information (even your beta’s name) will be edited or removed.

* Submit entries to LisaB1138@yahoo.com for posting. You must include your Salon log-in name with your entry and an email address.

* Stories must be new work for the contest, i.e., the story cannot have been previously posted anywhere.

* Salon members may submit more than one entry (go ahead--be prolific!)

* Entries may be written in collaboration with another registered Salon member. In the event that a collaboration fic wins a prize, the cash value of the prize will be split among the collaborating authors.

* Only members of the Salon may vote to determine the winning fic and each member may only vote once.

* Voting will be by PM to a joint account called Secretary to which three members have access to cross tally the votes. The winner of the contest will be determined democratically; the fic that gets the most votes wins! If we have enough entries, there will also be second and third place

* The winner of the fanfic contest will receive a $50 gift certificate to an as-yet-undetermined anime store. In the event of a tie, winners will split the gift certificate amount. In the event that there are enough entries to award second and third place, these winners will each receive awards of a $25 cash value each. Again, in the event of ties, the cash value of awards will be split among the winners.

* DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS Friday, July 1, 2005, midnight, Central Standard Time. When voting will begin and how long the voting will remain open will depend on the number of entries received.


So there it is. I hope many of the talented authors on the board will be inspired and submit entries. Fan artists, despair not! We are planning a fanart contest following the fanfic contest. The theme for the art contest will be announced at a later date.

hmmm That kinda sucks cuz I just can't write a short story for my life! hahaha I'd love to throw my hat in there but I just seriously don't have it in me to write anything less than 20-30 chapters! hahahaha... Although, I could post the final showdown between Goku and Vegeta from Monster, I haven't posted that anywhere. Ah well, I probably won't.
