The Patronesses created the Salon to promote serious discussion of DBZ fanfics and the fandom in general. We want everyone to have a good time. To that end we have established the following rules.

1. Be polite. You are free to express your opinion, but you must be polite when stating it. This means that phrases like "this sux" or "you're an idiot" will get you reprimanded. Continuous failure to mind your manners will get you ejected from the Salon.

2. No profanity. Really I shouldn't have to say it after Rule Number 1, but just to be absolutely clear about this, you may not use profanity. If you cannot express yourself without using profanity, the Salon is not the place for you.

This applies to avatars and signatures as well. If the word is part of the bad word filter, then you shouldn't be using it, even filtered with "**". The intent of the filter is to catch the few that might pop out, not give permission to use them filtered.

3. In an effort to keep the "one thread per story" concept going, we will close or move duplicate threads. This isn't personal, but we really want everyone to discuss the fic together as one group, not tiny little 'break out' groups.

4. No attack or retaliation against another Salon member or group of Salon members. You may not harass, threaten, embarrass another Salon member. This includes saying something bad about them, sending unwanted messages, or attacking their race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

5. No abusive language. You agree, through the use of this service, that you will not use these forums to post any material which is knowingly false and / or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Hate speech is not tolerated.

6. No Impersonations. Do not attempt to impersonate other forum members, and forum moderators or administrators. Such an attempt will not be successful and it is an offence that will get you banned from the Salon without warning -- no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Out of courtesy to other forum members and moderators we expect you to use only one username on our forums. Please do not post email addresses, standard snail-mail addresses, ICQ and other messaging client numbers, or telephone numbers which are not your own.

This also means only one log-in per IP address. Any exceptions must be approved by the admins in advance. Abuse of this is subject to instant banning without warning.

7. No spamming. We know everyone wants to be an Ultra Fangurl, but please only make posts that add value to our discussions of DBZ fanfiction. This includes blank replies, or one or two word replies designed either to annoy the other members or to increase your member post count. The moderators have final say on what constitutes spam in the Salon.

8. This is not a role-playing forum, although you are not forbidden from posting in character. If you choose to do so, you are still subject to the same rules of courtesy and civility we expect from all other members. The moderators and administrators are the final deciders of what is acceptable behavior here. If unacceptable behavior continues after being warned you are subject to discipline ranging from having all posts moderated up to being banned permanently.

9a) Keep in mind when posting this is a public forum and be cautious when sharing personal information. If you do make a mistake and share too much, contact a Moderator and we will do our best to help you correct this.

However...

9b) The Moderators will not delete your posts for you just because you have changed your mind about participating in a discussion. You can ask, but don't be surprised if you are told no. The primary purpose of the Salon is discussion of DBZ, fanfiction, and fanart and we encourage the sharing of ideas to encourage creativity. Your posts are an essential part of group discussion and will not be removed because you no longer wish to participate in the conversation.

But if you go too far...

9c) The Moderators have the right to close, edit or delete any post they feel is inappropriate. They are not required to warn any posters before doing so. Questions about why moderators take such actions should be emailed privately to the moderator who took the action, not discussed on the forum. If a topic is closed, please do not start another thread discussing the same topic.

10. We shouldn't have to spell this out, but - if you are banned, you are banned. Our decision is final. You can't come back. If we find you do register under a different name your account will be deleted without warning or explanation.
