Hello....new guy here!

I stumbled on your site by accident, whilst looking for a soft copy of the Starfleet Technical Manual (to go along with my hard copies)...and I've got to say, this place is AWESOME! I managed to add a lot of stuff to my ST TOS collection, and I wanted to say "thanks" to the uploaders. smile.gif

I do have a question, however....many, many years ago, I had bought a copy of the Star Trek Giant Poster Book, featuring an article on Mr. Scott/Doohan, and inside was a small illustration of a warp drive nacelle blueprint, with an explanation of how it worked. I've got a set of Franz Joseph's 1975 Enterprise blueprints, and as you know, it doesn't go into detail or show a cutaway of the main propulsion units (nacelles)....I was thinking that the small illustration in the Poster Book might be of a set FJ produced, but I haven't been able to confirm this.

Can anyone help me identify this? Or, show me where I can find these? I searched the Database, and under the FJ Blueprints page, there looks to be a single sheet of a MPU nacelle posted (at the bottom of the page)...but I can't recall if that is the same blueprint that I saw, all those years ago....

...any help would be appreciated, and once again, you guys ROCK!

EDIT: Further research shows that print to be by Geoff Mandell in 1987...any ideas of it's origin?

Hey, I don't think I have seen the particular blueprint you are looking for, however there is a Haynes Manual coming out this month if I am not mistaken that covers 4 of the Enterprises. In true Haynes fashion they should be very detailed and more or less broken down Barney style explaining how everything works or in this case the theory attached, one thing is for sure if all of the technology was real it would at the very least give you the ability to be an Engineer's Mate on several classes of Starfleet ships.

Thanks, Kor...I'll look for that Hayne's Manual...I've seen the Apollo LM and CM version.

I checked this list on this website:

http://stexpanded.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_S...Trek_Blueprints

And I don't see where Geoff ever had a set of exclusive plans for the warp engines...then, I found this quote:

Geoffrey Mandell did a sheet of blueprints for the interior of the nacelles, partly based on scenes from the animated series, but worked out somewhat more logicly. These were later sometimes added to the FJ plans to 'complete' them, as was the idea, I guess? You can find them Cygnus-x1.net, (with FJ's plans). ..

Here: http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=84833&page=5

So, I take it that it was a one-off sheet; do you know if it was ever added to the later reprints of the FJ blueprints to make a 'complete' set?

Hmm, Its interesting, I remember when that BrookeStephen guy was in here talking about his cutaway before he got caught up in the TrekBBS forums. I don't know if it was ever added. More or less what I have done is when I get stray sheets like that I just combine them in a folder or binder (depending on size) But for me its never been a collection of "complete" sets by individual as much as it has been a blueprint to the future. The only sets I have ever collected with whole sets was the Strategic Design stuff, they really do good work.

I will keep my eyes open for the complete set.

No, it was never added to later versions of the FJ Tech Manual. It was always a one-off meant to supplement the Tech Manual. Someone sent me a copy of his Inboard Main Propulsion Unit blueprint ten or more years ago. Personally, I think it's the most accurate!

That being the case, Chris, was it ever offered as a separate purchase?

I believe it was purchased direct from the author, via fan magazines or other means.

I see Geoff has his own website:

http://www.geoffreymandel.com/

I wonder if he still offers reprints?
