Brie noticed out of the corner of her eye that Jules was blushing as well. Good. She wasn't the only one. That somehow made her feel better. Well, not as weird, she guessed. Although that was pretty weird. Fixing someone's hair? Yeah, definitely weird. But it wasn't like she could help it. If she really needed to, she pull out the "it's a medical condition" thing. She didn't really like to say that. Simply, it was because people took her to be a mental patient then. I mean, she wasn't mental. She really wasn't. She just had a condition that caused her to freak out and keep everything in order.

She laughed lightly. "Well I suppose that gives you motivation to run..." she mused. "I like to run around the lake sometimes." She nodded, recalling all the times that she had done that. It was, truly, a lot of fun. Squirmy? That was an understatement. She smiled and nodded, "I suppose. I don't really play sports, just running." Brie was so uncoordinated and that was why she never played sports. Gym was all nine levels of hell wrapped up in one to her. She'd almost broken her nose playing basketball. During volleyball, she got a concussion because the ball hit her head too many times. That was fun. Not.

Brie's body stiffened. Did he just say that? She bit her lip as she felt her cheeks burn with a blush. She didn't say anything immediately. What do you say when somebody says that? Thanks? You too? Almost as an impulse, she put one palm over the over and made her thumbs make a circular motion. "Awkward turtle..." she whispered.

Jules let out a loud laugh when she made her turtle friend. He wasn't laughing at her, okay he was. But he was laughing in a good hearted way. She was funny. Her turtle was funny. But when Jules heard a loud the SHHH noise coming from all around him he cover his mouth. "Oops." he said, this time quietly . He did feel bad that he made Brie feel awkward. Jules was of the opinion that if you thought someone was beautiful, or smart you should tell them. That way they could feel a little better about themselves, and know that you liked being around them. It was a double win for him. But he was beginning to think that there were times that humans were right in staying quiet. Jules was slowly becoming famous for awkward statements.

"I'm sorry." said Jules with a smile. "I sometimes don't think before I speak." He stood up and walked over to his chair were he had been sitting before the war with the wrapper had started. He crossed his arms. "Although I must say it seems like the polite thing might be to compliment me back." his face was serious, but his eyes were playful. "If you need help I can make suggestions." He scratched his head, messing the hair she had straighten up again without even thinking about it.

"I've been told I have lovely eyes." he said, making a suggestion to what she could compliment him on. "Like the sea before the storm. You could use that." his face broke into a smile again.

Brie blanched as she heard the shushing noise, praying that it would just be that and they wouldn't get kicked out. Thankfully it was and she let out a breath she had been holding. Her hands dropped and she shoved them under her legs. They were quiet... for now. She stole a glance at Jules but quickly looked away. Nobody ever really complimented her. I mean, she got the 'Oh, I like your hair/clothes' or the 'Wow you're really smart' before, but never about her actual looks. She paled in comparison to other girls at the school, and was never some great beauty all the guys lusted after. She was simply ordinary.

She watched him as he stood up. "It's okay... I..." Well? She stood up and returned to her seat as well. "I'm not usually complimented. I'm not used to it." Brie blushed again and looked down at the table. At first she thought he was serious, and she looked up at him, desperately trying to find something. His eyes were laughing, though, and she smiled, still blushing though. "Please, do tell," she replied, cradling her chin in her hands.

She laughed. "Well, I must say, then, your eyes are simply beautiful and look like the sea before the st..." she trailed off. Smiling, she added, "The Princess Bride! I get it. 'With eyes like the sea before a storm'... That's how Buttercup describes Wesley, isn't it? Now, when you talk about epic love stories, The Princess Bride is infinitely better than Romeo and Juliet." There she went, going all bookish again. But he had brought it up first!

"Thank you, I work hard to get them that way." said Jules, focusing his eyes. He blinked twice. When she talked about the Princess Bride a look of guilt went across his face. Jules bit his lip and let out a sigh. "I only watched the movie." It had been in a weekend, by which I mean, last weekend when he was doing a romance movie weekend. He had found the movies set in modern day to be much more helpful. He could see putting some of those ideas into real practice. Although his match would have to as some point end up in a mad rush to the airport. Or at least that's what he got from watching one romantic comedy after another. Jules wondered what about airplanes made people fall in love. He just found them a little terrifying. But than again Jules was afraid of things that resembled large metal birds.

"So you think Princess Bride is more romantic than Romeo and Juliet?" said Jules with interest. He was still determined to get some advice from her. The Princess Bride had been very romantic. Not all that piratical, but romantic nonetheless. It was the perfect way for Jules to get some ideas from Brie. The best thing about her was that she seemed to be unconventional. That was good because Jules suspected that his match would be somewhat unconventional. Knowing him he might even do it by accident.

The thing about Jules was that things seemed to work out for him. For example the love angel thing. It had been a complete accident and sure it wasn't exactly like he was born for the job. But could you imagine Jules as a death angel? Yeah, that's what I thought. He was loving this so far. Sure it was stressful. He didn't know what was going to happen if he couldn't make a match. But he was getting to live again. He was almost like a normal kid. At the very least he could sit here with a normal person and have her believe he was normal to. Maybe not normal in the sense that they weren't interesting and weird people. But normal in the idea of them both being living, breathing creatures.

Brie smiled. "We'll just have to change that, won't we?" She stood up and disappeared behind one of the nearby bookshelves. She knew it was here somewhere. Her fingers brushed along the spines of the books. It would be under G, right? Yes, yes it would. E... F... G! She crouched down to the last shelf and found it. The Princess Bride. Sliding it out from the tightly packed shelf, she blew on it to get some of the dust off. She walked merrily back to the table and sat down in her chair. "Read it," she said, sliding the book over to Jules. "The movie is almost as good as the book."

Brie nodded in response to his question. "Of course. They stay in love, don't they? Buttercup loves Wesley, even though she thinks he's dead. Wesley never gives up love for Buttercup. Years pass, and they still love each other. Frowning slightly she added, "Romeo and Juliet spent less than a week together. That's lust, not love."

Not that Brie was in any position to dictate what was love or what wasn't love. She wasn't exactly a guru of love. In fact, the only love she had ever felt was for her family. Sure, she'd had one or two relationships, but they didn't... exactly work out. And, she sure as hell wasn't in love with Jason, her crush. It was infatuation, and they hardly knew each other. And, in the place that her crush-filled kept her common sense, she knew that he was no good for her and would only drive her out of her mind crazy... Like she wasn't crazy enough.

Jules leaned in and rest his chin on his hands. "Why do Romeo and Juliet only stay together for a week?" he asked, not realizing how ridiculous this sounded. Jules had no idea that pretty much everyone knew the ending of Romeo and Juliet. He also didn't know the tragic ending. Yes, he was trying to cheat. He wanted to know what the point of the story was without reading it. Then he could move onto his next project. He was thinking about reading one of Jane Austen's books. Those apparently could teach you a lot about love. So far Jules hadn't found much love creeping around. Romantic books and movie seemed like the only way he was going to get an idea about this so called love.

He was beginning to get the sinking feeling that love wasn't like the love he read about or watched in movies. Jules was beginning to worry that love was much more complicated than he originally thought. But who would be better to tell him about love than someone who might actually know about real love. That's why Jules was so interested in talking to Brie for a bit longer. Maybe she could shed some light on some ever illusive love.

Well, there was that reason and one more. Jules found himself rather liking Brie. She seemed extraordinary. She wasn't predictable, of course Jules wasn't really able to predict any of these people. It all looked so easy before he got her. Find two soul mates, help them fall in love, and bam you were done, headed to heaven. But it was looking like the whole ordeal was going to be much harder than that.

Brie tilted her head and quirked her eyebrow. "Um... they're kind of dead." She rolled her eyes. "There's something seriously wrong if they stay together AFTER they die." And then it hit her. He didn't know what happened. Oh, wow. Smooth moves. She hung her head and muttered, "You didn't know, did you?" Sighing she met his gaze again. "Sorry I just ruined it for you." She felt terrible. She hated having books ruined for her, and look at what she'd just done. She completely ruined Romeo and Juliet for him.

Wait a second. Why didn't he know the story of Romeo and Juliet? Everyone knows they die. She'd never met a person who didn't know what happened before they read it. Furrowing her brow, she asked, "How did you not know they died? I mean, everyone knows the story of Romeo and Juliet." Isn't it required that all students study Romeo and Juliet? They studied it freshman year here... It's one of those staple books that everyone has to study. Granted, they all hated to study it, but they had to!

"Why are you so interested in love?" she asked. "Especially books and movies, they give you unrealistic standards." Silently, in her head, she added, 'I would know.' Things don't end up happily ever after. Sometimes, people just aren't meant to be together. Sometimes people are misled, and sometimes people are entirely wrong.

Jules was going to have to work at this. He was going to have to work hard. It was all so interesting. But at the same time it was too overwhelming for him. Poor Jules just wanted to have fun. He didn't want to worry about being an angel. There was nothing in him that wanted to help people fall in love. Yes, he wanted to be good at this assignment and of course he wanted to go to heaven. But right now he wanted to be a teenager. This school seemed like it was such fun, for those who could really enjoy it.

The thought that Romeo and Juliet ended up dead was horrifying. Jules just looked at Brie for a moment. "You're not serious?" he said, his mouth wide open. "I can't believe that." Jules felt like he was about to cry. His blue eyes were glossy with tears. But he snapped back to normal when she seemed so surprised that he didn't know it. "I have short term memory loss." said Jules. "It's a medical condition." he added with a large smile.

When she asked when he was so interested in love he bit his lip. Jules wasn't sure what to say. The whole 'I'm a love angel in training' thing sounded a bit off (not to mention against every rule) so he would have to come up with a lie. He was going to have to come up with a very creative, yet very believable lie. For a moment Jules was stuck, completely clueless as to what he should say. But then he came to him. "I got dumped." he said with a frown, although inside he was secretly smiling. This was perfect and most importantly completely believable. "I'm trying not to make the same mistakes twice." he shook his head. "I thought girls liked snakes." He said, speaking mostly to himself.

Great, now he had lied twice, maybe even three times. Jules always thought that lying was bad. He was sure it was one of the seven sins. But apparently when it's for the good of love it was okay. He'd have to remember that.
