The roleplay on this board is set in London, currently the year 2013.

The board opened around March 1st 2009, about one month after the news of vampires being real came out - this happened in late January 2009. The news of vampires being real are all over the world. But this RP just takes place in London, despite that. It has now been 4 years since humans gained knowledge of vampires.

This means that the year events take place in is 2013 now. Seasons are like they are in real life London/England, and the roleplay follows the year - meaning when it's fall in the real world, it is on CotN too, and so on. All governments and countries are run the way they are today in real life. There is however no financial crisis, at least not currently.

The only crisis there is for all, is that vampires are suddenly known as real beings, that everyone must learn to live with.

Human characters may originate from all classes of society, the same as they are today. Do try and make the world seem realistic, by portraying this and remembering that not all people are equally wealthy.
