As some of you may know, I am one who likes to tweak my textures. Sometimes this has adverse effects, such as the wierd yellow fog I once got, or skies that look like what you'd expect from an irradiated wasteland.

I was browsing on SimV last month and heard about a fantastic produce called
FSAtmosphere. I liked what I saw and bought it. There was an odd greenish light in the afternoon (pre-dusk). I e-mailed the creator, Sandon Lyon about it, and promptly got a response, along with some alternate textures. I was impressed and happy with what I had. When Sandon told me he would be updating it with a bigger package, I was very excited.

Well it is out and I am glad.

The new product is RealSky. It brings the rich colors of the dawn and dusk. It also imparts colors to the clouds.

But he did not stop with the sky and cloud textures. He also added water textures, changes to aircraft lights, star placement, ripple effects, and even changed the runway lighting!

The above shot really doesn't do justice to the way my runways now look!

Here are a couple of examples of what my sunrises now look like!

And the water reflections are very atmospheric!

The color changes are very subtle!

But the effect is noticable from high up too!

Now, I have owned neither Flight Environment nor Active Sky, and so don't pretend to compare them. However, I have been asked if I am using Active Sky more than once. The product is priced at a very reasonable $15 (with a discount applied for owners of FSAtmosphere). I am very happy with this product and how my Sim now looks, and give RealSky a 9.5 out of 10!

Purchase it here

A very well written review jordonj thumbsupguy.gif . The price of $15 USD makes it even more attractive. And your pictures look spectacular with RealSky piccaso.gif . Great review yes.gif . Happy flying.
