| QUOTE | | Did you try going into Computer Management/Device Manager and removing anything under display adapters then reboot and reinstall the video card drivers. |
Indeed I did...remember that I could only boot into Safe Mode and VGA mode. The latter gave me the ability to use the DVD-burner. I was able to back everything up except most of my aircraft onto DVD (something about the format doesn't like some of the files in the Aircraft folders).
| QUOTE | | When I got this PC one of the RAM cards was plugged in the wrong way round so when I started up the thing it just had a blank screen. Simple things are usually the answer is what I have found. |
Unfortunately, this was not simple. I think it went all the way to the Registry. I tried everything to no avail. In the end I had to re-format/re-install/ etc...
The good news, I put a second Hard Drive in temporarily and was able to back up all the important stuff...
I made a 30GB partition off my 200GB HD (the one I use for flying...I use removable drive carriers and have 2 installaions of XP)
Sooo, once I had the OS, Anti-Virus, etc. installed and updated, I installed FS2004, Copied over the files, and Volia!
Back to where we started from!
So...it's all good!
