Title: Terrain mesh

NorthStar - October 25, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
I'm considering terrain mesh replacement, either an FS Genesis package or FS Global. Does anyone have recommendations or comments (impact if any on frame rates etc).

Hi NorthStar, when I still used FS9 I had some FS Genesis terrain meshes (US and Canada) and I thought that they were quite good and had no impact on the frames in any way. I never had FS Global, so there's not a lot I can say about that product. Happy Flying.

I have the freeware FSGenesis from AVSIM for the USA. But the rest of the world (mostly) are FSGlobal. It's a good addon. Nothing to complain about.

I have only one thing changed. I'm using freeware mesh in most of Europe. Simply because there are some good freeware mesh for Europe.

Hi NorthStar -

I use the payware FSGenesis meshs (76mtr) and have had n problem with them at all. If there is an impact on FPS, I certainly havent noticed it either.

I have the following Mesh's installed:

North Canada
South Canada
USA
Europe
Asia/Pacific

Essentially the entire world is covered :)

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. It makes my decision a little easier. That, plus the fact that FS Genesis has their global package on at a hot price right now.

Simviation has the entire world's meshes...If you have around 8GB on your HDD, it covers the entire world ;)

Hey Northstar, it is difficult to choose and often difficult to get around ALL the files.

On this note, the FSGlobal would probably be the best product since it is easy and covers everything. i can't speak to the quality of it but only of the simplicity.

I also have FSGlobal. It works fine and is easy to install.
I have FSGenisis installed for the US as an extra also with no problems.
