GREETINGS
Welcome to Caislean Weyr!
It’s the end of the 9th Interval and Pern’s fate lays in the hands of Caislean Weyr.
A cataclysm the likes of which the planet has not seen since its creation has rendered much of the northern lands useless and it’s the job of the few struggling dragonriders left on Pern to re-colonize these harsh lands before Thread returns.

If you would like to adopt this character, please PM Araceli with your character sheet. If we receive multiple requests for the same character we will review the sheets and pick who we feel is best for the dragon. Thank you.
THIS DRAGONS NEW RIDER MUST BE FEMALE.The hatching sands appeared to have descended into despair. Too many of these eggs were dead and lifeless. In a clutch of fifty with only three hatched so far, they had already seen the death of one young blue, and it seemed as though many would follow his example. As larger eggs fell still, disappointed murmuring filtering from the stands and candidates as they silently mourned the loss of young bronzes and browns. It was a cruel fate that left them with these precious smaller colors when what they truly needed were strong bronzes to lead the wings.
An egg somewhere near Airith’s tail gave a shudder as the humming of the dragons reached a new volume, drawing all eyes to it. While it seemed that there was still hope for the clutch, it was doubtful that this egg would produce the large beasts they needed. The rocking orb was too small to contain even a good sized brown, but whatever green or blue came from it would likely be well sought. Frantic tapping sounded from the shell with each eager movement, sending the egg quivering as though the hatchling within was excited to greet the new world. The egg was so tiny and she wanted to see the world! Renewing her efforts, the hatchling heaved a fierce kick at the enamel prison. The shell suddenly gave way with the fervent kick and the hatchling seized at it with renewed delight, working furiously towards freedom. Cracks spider-webbed across the shell’s creamy surface before the egg exploded outward in a flurry of limbs and claws.
A green hatchling spilled onto the sands, eyes glowing redly indignant at being met with such unnecessary heat. She sprang to her feet and gave a hiss of mischievous delight. The hatchling’s tropical green hide seemed obscenely bright in the glowlight, her bright, almost yellowish underbelly a mocking parody of her mother’s golden hue. Darker wings flared outwards to hover at her side as the green snaked her head out and screeched at the audience, the whipcord lean muscles of her neck trembling with the sound. The world had played a trick on her, dumping her into this ridiculously heated place, and she would be sure to return the favor.Close by, a small mound of sand gave a determined twitch. The egg’s occupant thrashed violently against its enamel prison only to discover that its movements were not the strong ones it had hoped for. Sluggish weakness seemed to seep through its limbs, making each movement an effort that burned his lungs as he gasped for air. Desperate eyes wheeled in the darkness before he discovered a point in the shell that was brighter than the rest. The hatchling focused on it, thrashing against its prison with desperate strength. He could not surrender to the abyss that clawed at his mind, threatening to drag him into oblivion. The green swayed, eyes wheeling from side to side as she absorbed the enormity of the world she had emerged into. Her lips peeled back in feral delight and she padded over to sniff at one of the motionless eggs. What strange rocks they were! The green slunk towards it, wings clinging to her side in a vain attempt to remain unseen when many candidate eyes had turned to one of the few healthy hatchlings in the cavern. She reached out a dark paw to nudge at the egg only to be met with an angry growl as Airith snaked her head toward her and nudged her away. The green reeled as her mother’s voice echoed in her skull.Do not mock the dead, whelp. The green hissed at the massive queen and shrank behind the egg, furious that her brilliant stealth had been punctured so easily. How had she been spotted? No matter. Tail whipping around in irritation, the hatchling started to make her way towards the gaggle of candidates before a rustling noise caught her attention. Her head whipped in the direction of a rocking egg that was far smaller than the one she had been chased away from and she trotted towards it. A paw snaked out to nudge the shaking egg. When a shrill noise sounded from within, the green gave a trill of delight and began to leap at itThe egg cave a sudden lurch, sending the hatchling reeling and shrieking through the shell. What was this madness interrupting his efforts? He kicked at it, sluggish limbs finding strength in desperation and irritation. This time, he found success as the egg gave a crack. Air rushed into the egg and the hatchling sucked in a breath, the fresh, heated air of the cavern making his chest tingle. Energy seared through him, lending the strength to finally escape his prison. But before he could work at the hole, a claw poked through it and tugged his egg forward until it rolled. A crack spread from the force, finally falling apart as the hatchling flailed in alarm. The world was spinning! He would not stand for such nonsense!
The shell seemed to fall away piece by piece as the egg rolled, finally coming to a halt as there was no more shell to support its momentum. The angrily whiffling creature that finally sprawled onto the sands was tiny, smaller than many of the greens that had broken shell. His hide was a dark blue that seemed to melt into black in places, and there was no mistaking it for anything but a mutated beast. Light sky blues circled his paws like gauntlets and the wrists of his wings. A choking laugh escaped one of the boys as he looked at the hatchling and the blue went rigid before realizing that his tail was little more than a nub with a tailfork on the end. Said nub waved about indignantly, its owner surveying the sands that finally fell on the green. The blue’s lip peeled back in a snarl as he saw her jaw crack in a mocking grin. She was the one who had disrupted his hatching! He launched himself at her with unusual energy for a mutant. YOU!The green trilled mischievously, slithering out of the way to avoid her brother’s infuriated pounce. She slunk between the surrounding eggs, glee keeping her momentarily safe against the abyss that Impression would one day fill. She rounded an egg and rolled on her back, pushing the blue overhead as he attempted once more to tackle her. As he went flopping away, she flopped over and went dashing through the forest of silent eggs, a shrill squealing sound trailing behind her as she made her way towards the female candidates. She knew her blue brother was after her, but that just made it all the more fun. As she passed one of the motionless eggs, she tipped it into the blue’s path with a twitch of her tail. A snicker escaped her as she turned and skidded to a halt to see if he would be able to avoid it.He lurched after her, fury driving weak limbs to propel him into a shuffling gallop. Broad wings flared wetly out at his sides in a feeble attempt at balancing before a single misstep sent him sprawling onto the sands once more, colliding solidly with the egg his sister had set in front of him. He met the heated earth with a screech, clawing weakly at the sand that had gotten into his eyes. Pain seared through him and he reeled backwards, ichor drizzling from where the tissue around his face had been punctured by tiny baby claws. The green wheeled around and crooned, a strange sensation she recognized as guilt bubbling to the surface of her mind. She padded up to where her brother writhed on the sands, snaking her neck out to nose him only to be met with a flurry of claws. Well… so much for him. Abandoning the writhing blue, she trotted towards the gaggle of candidates. The males were dismissed with a hiss and a few of them groaned at losing the chance at a healthy dragon as they watched her snuffle around the females. A few girls stepped forward but she batted their touches away with a twitch of the wings, nose in the sand as though tracking her rider by scent.
After a pause, she came to a halt and raised her eyes to her girl of choice, eyes wheeling rainbows. She extended her thoughts and wrapped them around her rider’s, flooding the girl’s mind with adoration. Her voice came slowly and sweetly like so much poisoned honey as she purred to her new partner.
My rider, I do not think he liked my trick, but your Yriath is very glad to see you, she arched up against the girl’s leg like an oversized feline before turning a somewhat worried gaze to her brother, I would like some food now please.
