Luce was in the common room, reading with her legs propped up on one arm of the chair, when N'rune burst in carrying an unconscious girl. The bluerider was familiar enough. He didn't bring candidates constantly, but he did once in a while... and he tended to latch onto her older half brother once in a while. To K'ell's annoyance. She didn't know why he put up with the man's invasion of his space when he was uncomfortable with it, but they were friends it seemed. Nothing more, nothing less. He was just too nice, sometimes. She'd have to get used to that. Back to the situation at hand...
"Just what am I seeing?" she questioned the search rider, frowning, an eyebrow raised. As if she had any right to bring him to task if he'd done something wrong, but he seemed to respond the way she wanted. Instead of going off on some random tangent, he explained everything.
"She just collapsed as we were walking from the weyrbowl, but she seems fine. Just passed out. The nearest empty room is where?" he questioned her after telling her what was going on. The blond candidate stood up slowly, grabbing a crutch and leading the way to the first empty room in the girls side of the candidates barracks. Her broken leg was almost healed, finally she could get around on her own. "She ran away after her parents wouldn't let her go with a rider that searched her," he said when he put her down on the bed.
"I'm not sure if she's been eating enough, and it had to have been a difficult trip. I'm going to send up a drudge with food, and, well, if she's not doing okay, make sure she's brought to the infirmary. You know where it is." That said, N'rune patted Luce's head and left the room. She settled down on the cot at the unconscious girl's feet and leaned against the wall. The man was intelligent enough, he just... had an odd vibe. Then again, he'd impressed a dragon. He couldn't be all that bad. She sighed, and stared at an irregularity in the wall. Hopefully the girl was fine, and just needed some rest. She didn't want to think that this was a hassle, but she wasn't in the best of shape herself currently and didn't want to drag the girl down to the infirmary. She'd have to make one of the other candidates do it if she was sick or something.

"The rider said he's going to send up a drudge with food when he left, but if it doesn't show up soon I'll grab one of the other candidates by the ear and have 'em get you something to eat," Luce said, startled when the girl finally woke up. It had been a while, but for some reason she'd thought that it would be longer. She must've been really tired to just pass out like that. "After that, I could give you directions to the nearest bathing areas. I'd show you myself, but, I was told to keep off this leg as much as possible." She shrugged, smiling a bit at the way the new candidate was looking around.
"This is going to be your new room, 'less you really want a room mate. You could always ask. My name's Luce. I'm pretty new here, I arrived just before the last hatching.." she trailed off, thinking about what had happened. It was a blurr of pain and joy and trauma. She hoped the next would would be better, in that she would be in a better state of mind at least..
A knock at the door.. "Come in," she called. Probably ought to go open the door so whoever it was could get in, if it was the drudge he probably had his hands full, but after the lecture she'd gotten from her brother and masterhealer Ashtar, she was keeping off her feet as much as possible.
Balancing the tray against his hip with one hand, Melken nudged the door open far enough to come in, and glanced about. There was no where to set it.. He looked at the two girls in the room for direction. They both looked young, harmless. His owner's lack of concern made his blue flitt peer at the two from its spot on the youth's shoulders, curiously.
Luce waved the drudge over, "I'll take that, thanks. Alyssa's going to need clothes and stuff like that, if you could fetch some thing suitable for, like, sleeping? And a towel, right. We can figure out just what she needs later." Once she had the tray in hands, she set it on the bed between her and 'Lys and waited until he left to say anything. He kinda creeped her out, with those dead looking eyes..

The new girl was very… talkative. No matter. Luce smiled in a moderately friendly manner and nodded a little. Maybe she should be grateful for someone to talk to while he was bound to the barracks, but really, some quiet would be nice. Ah well. She was probably just irritable that she couldn’t really… do anything at the moment. Restless. The questions about the Weyr… “You’ll find that all out soon enough,” Luce said with a vague wave of her hand. “ We’ll be having lessons, I’ve heard sometimes we have little get-togethers in our common room, and of course there’s the egg-touching and hatchings…”
A shrug, about the drudge. “I don’t know. It wasn’t like it was a favor or anything, you know. He’s a drudge, its like his job to do stuff like that…” Luce looked slightly puzzled. She hadn’t grown up in a big hold, but her mothers family did and she understood well enough went in holds. Weyrs weren’t much different… She shook her head slightly about the leatherworking, “Don’t think we do. I’m pretty sure the riders take care of their own stuff, and, well, I’m pretty sure… if you wanted to be a leatherworker so bad, you could go to Kalgir. I think being a rider would be preferable, though.” She raised her eyebrows. A lot of people had to figure out their priorities when coming to the Weyr.
