Hi All,
I have written an article on the mainstay weapon in Bronze Age China: the dagger-axe. It has plenty of pictures for those with short attention spans & plenty of detail for those with a desire to learn about is origin in the Neolithic period through to the early Iron Age sucessors on the battlefield. The Pdf. is availible at http://www.grandhistorian.com/kennethblair...pril%202009.pdf ![]() For the purposes of downloading I have also broken the paper into 3 parts. The original 7.2MB file is available above but these are the following sections in sizes of 2-3.2MB: 1: Neolithic period to Western Zhou period. http://www.grandhistorian.com/kennethblair...tern%20Zhou.pdf 2: Frontier cultures and the Eastern Zhou period. http://www.grandhistorian.com/kennethblair...tern%20Zhou.pdf 3: Han halberds, plus pole finials and ancient Chinese metallurgy. http://www.grandhistorian.com/kennethblair...0metallurgy.pdf |

Hey Kenneth,
Thanks for the info, interesting article! I found it rather hard to find evidence for Qin halberts because all I could find, while I was making the warriorstatue as displayed in this post, was secondairy evidence like modern drawings or made statues, never an actual halbert out of those days so I tried to make one but I don't think it's entirely acurate.. A well written and well illustrated article, thank you. It's very timely too, as I just saw some Qin arms at an exhibit.

A slightly amended version (minor grammatical adjustments) and a more sensible URL title has been set up here:
