Shadow slowly walked to the edge of the river and gazed at the waterfalls. "I don't know how much longer I can take living alone..." he muttered to himself. He had just completed a succesful hunt, and his muzzle, paws, and tail were a brilliant red from the blood of a fresh kill.

He eased himself into the cool refreshing water and paddled around for a while. He then swam back to the beachy riverside and laid down right where the water touched the shore so that the water continued to refresh him and his spirit.

As time passed, he began to drift into a sweet slumber. He had dreams of strange wolves he had never seen before. They looked familiar, but he could not recall ever meeting them. Then, his wounderful slumber turned into a fitfull nightmare. Horrible beings were flying through the land killing all. "Stop it!" he yelled as he turned and twisted. Then, suddenly, he awoke to the rivers flowing srenade, and lay down once more.
