A chill ran down Ellara's spine. The wind had suddenly gotten much stronger and colder. Her hair blew across her face and the wind tugged at her robes.
The wind came from the east. This was both an advantage and disadvantage for Tellyn and Ellara. It would make their ride to Minas Tirith easier. Though it also meant they wouldn't be able to see or feel Loki coming if he wished to attack them.

Quickly Tellyn and Ellara ran to their horses and rode away as fast as they could. Minas Tirith was merely ten miles away. Yet they had to travel across the open fields where they would be vulnerable. All of a sudden ten miles seemed a very long way to travel.
Together Tellyn and Ellara dashed out of the small town, through the streets to the open plains. On their way they almost ran into a few people. Ellara felt guilty for being that rude to the people who had helped her many a time.

As soon as they reached the open plains Ellara urged her horse to go even faster. They didn't have much time. Typical, she thought. The moment when you need time more than ever there's always too little.
The wind gained in strength out in the open. Here there were no obstacles left to withstand it.

Ellara hoped her message would reach the right people in Minas Tirith before they reached the gates. For weeks now the gates of Minis Tirith were closed and opened only in special circumstances.

Much to Tellyn and Ellara's suprise Loki hadn't yet attacked them or kept them from reaching Minas Tirith. They were already more than halfway there and Minas Tirith was within their reach. This either meant Loki had decided not to thwart them yet orthat he waited until the last second to try and take their hopes away.
By now Tellyn and Ellara only had one mile left to go. To her left Ellara saw Tellyn tugging at his horse's reins to go slower. The gates stil hadn't opened. "Keep going! The gates will open. Ride as fast as you can!" She yelled yo Tellyn, her words all but lost in the wind.

Arion's feet were wearing out already. The long spring across the open plains of Rohan had tired him. Garadon and Karoth were fine though, by the looks of things, but Arion didn't have trust in his vision, which seemed somehow illusive to him right now.
He knew that Tellyn and Ellara would be heading for Minas Tirith, as it would be their only way of getting away from Loki, or possibly getting him killed by the hail of Gondor soldiers. All of a sudden, something stopped Arion and broke his sprinting, almost shattering it in half as if it were no more.
He looked back at Rohan. Edoras. The flag. It suddenly occured to him, would he ever see it again? Would it just be another raze off the map of Middle Earth? If Loki managed to break through the gates of Rohan, he would have complete control in one single breath...
Arion pulled up his sleeve. The mark that had been left by the 'Mordor Uruk-Hai' was still there. On his forearm he also found the mark of Gondor. The tree.
Suddenly, a red, hot flaming eye appeared in his mind. He shook off the image with his hand and looked towards his father.
"We should get going..." Garadon advised. "I sense something."
"Uruk-Hai, perhaps?" Arion asked.
"No... Something worse. Buit we don't want to get caught up in the mess. So let's move whilst we have the chance."
Arion looked around. Something wasn't right... But he just disregarded thr thought and waved a single wave towards Rohan. The realm of his birth, and possibly another 'raze off the map of Middle Earth'.

Tellyn was confused and slowed down, wondering why Ellara kept going. He was about to try and catch her up when an arrow flew past his face, without a second though kicked off and the horse jerked forward, he drew his bow and an arrow from his shiver.

He trusted his horse would keep going forward and twisted round to get a better shot, a group had formed behind them. He let the arrow fly, it didn't reach his target but hit the horse, the horse fell to the ground, the enemy on the horse was killed instantly as he rolled off and was crushed by the horse.
