School has started for most of us, akusma included in that unfortunately. With so many of us busy, we can expect a drop in activity, but with some pretty major plots coming up all at once, I would seriously recomend getting your characters up and out there! Not only will this hatching be one to remember (to make up for it taking so long) but there's that wreck that's still making people wonder, and the sightings of a few wild Whers around the place. One Handler claims to have seen a wild on in the stores!

SEASON CHANGE

Are the 'of the months' un-needed? Or do you think they should stay? Should there be less of them? Different ones? And by the latter I don't just mean different people in them. Tell the staff what you think.

stiches !
Stictches is our member of the month! A great player, who's candidate Impressed first in our hatching! Their characters are fun, and they're fun to RP with. If that doesn't make them worthy of being Member of the Month, I don't know what else does.

Calleigh !
Well, she's the only candidate to have managed to get into Denayth's bad books it seems, though through no fault of her own; and the only girl to sneak onto the sands dressed as a boy. She's a strong willed girl, determined to do anything.

Anne stated some time ago that women and homosexual men could impress browns, but you guys haven't really included either. Some mega strict canon sites are like that still, but it's quite unusual to see nowadays. This is probably one of the things I'd reccomend doing the most- female brownriders are extremely popular, as a first, and homosexual brownriders have always existed, including and even in the books. Unless there is some really weird reason why they suddenly don't on this site (I can't find anything that suggests that, but I don't run the site xD) I don't understand why they are left out.

Aaaalso, homosexual women only impress rarely. Whether accidental, coincidental, or because none of you like lesbians, it does come off as being homophobic towards women. Every other gender & sexuality impresses fairly equally, but bisexual and homosexual women tend to come up short. I know Anne never included them, for whatever reason, and that is a whole 'nother barrel of fish, but surely in the role-play world we should try to expand to include all gender and sexuality equally?

My last point isn't so much a suggestion, as food for a thought. More recently a wave of anti-homophobic dragons has hit the DRoP world, in quite a few forums and whole websites. This is the idea that dragons don't actually care about sexuality, and why should they? You could have the ideal leader, but a homosexual. From either gender. Some argue that the sexualities make weyrmates easier or w/e, but are people forgetting that stand-ins exist? Or that Weyrleader/Weyrwomen pairings aren't monogamous and may not even be actual weyrmates in a sense? See Kylara. Would her being bisexual have changed a thing? Or Lessa? Would Lessa never have impressed Ramoth if she'd had a taste for girls too? And what about asexuals? Or pansexuals?

I am not fond of girls on male dragons as a rule, and they're rare in canon as well, which is why I think they're popular. But I know other people love girls riding male dragons, I've just grown up on really canon sites. The no homosexual males on Browns was something I'd not remembered putting. I thought I'd said that they could, and obviously haven't. As I said, this was coppied off another site, who'd copied ot off another site.

As for the homosexual women Impressing rarely...That's most likely due to canon, because women rarely Impressed anyway at a certain point in Pern history. Greens and BLues should be open to homosexual and bisexual women, and rarely in Browns I'm sure. I'll edit that.

And also: we're not homophobic. Neither are our dragons. I once figured out a theory for why certain dragons shouldn't Impress certain genders, but I won't bore you with that, and because of the canon source for the Impression charts that's why women Impress rarely. Also: Anne once said that dragons release pheromones to figure out the sexuality of their rider. Something I once read on a Pern forum somewhere. But I do understand where you're coming from, and will edit accordingly.

"Heterosexuals only" is homophobic, even if it's just the dragons. Sexuality exclusion is nothing but, which is why a lot of people hate Anne for the sexism and homophobism frequently portrayed in both her books and interviews. When Anne opens her mouth to talk about homosexuality, the entire world cringes and looks the other way =/ from "dragons CAN SMELL SEXUALITY LOL" to "anal sex makes people gay =D" She is one of the most ignorant people to reference sexuality with.

I just don't believe -any- dragon in their right mind would turn down someone based on sexuality. How does that even make sense? They don't have sex with the person.

Maybe I'm just extremely liberal, but I thought the whole point of non-canon Pern was to not follow the restrictive and illogical rule? Such as women not riding dragons?

And I'd like to point out it is actually canon for women to ride blues and browns ^^; Again, Anne said they did, and while she isn't a scientific genius on the subject of sexuality, she at least has started to drop the sexism.

.... I'm sorry xDDD Anne makes me angry. I get soooo passionate over her views on sexuality. It drives me nuts.

But the changes look much more... Open and friendly =D

Glad to hear that! Despite what it said on the Impressions before, I'd still have IMpressed girls to Blues and Browns, and accepted them. I never pay that much attention to that point anyway, except when it comes to Golds.

The tent peg story I just found hilarious. I doubt that every person who was raped with a tent peg turned gay. I doubt anyone else was actually raped with a tent peg. The guys must have been seriously drunk. Her friend was problably gay to begin with, but just didn't want to admit it.

I think the whole 'smell the sexuality' thing was just to make it more acceptable to some of the general public, and just to make her ideas seem a little more plausable.

And generally I see most sites that are non-canon just for people to go whacky with the colours. I've seen rainbow dragons and perfect dragons and dragons the size of mountains! And ones called 'Spike'. But the good non-canon sites are based on what you said.

Sorry, I like debating with people, even if I'm on the loosing side XD
