Shortened Name: T’liah (heheh

)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Rank: Candidate
Specialties: Cooking, cleaning, and delegating chores
Appearance: Her skin is pale and fair, her oval face framed by dark brown hair that is always cropped short above her neck and is often flared stylishly back. Her eyes, piercing grey in color, are calm and level, though sometimes mocking. She stands at 5’6”, her slim body hardly curved beneath the black clothing that she always wears.
Personality: Possessing a sharp tongue and harboring a quick mind, Taliah finds herself sometimes saying things she wished she hadn’t. Though she tries to watch herself, Taliah often finds that in continuing to talk, she only worsens the situation. She is rather quick to anger and tends to hold grudges for a long time. But just the same, she is also extremely loyal and will never hesitate to stand up for those she deems worthy, no matter the consequences.
Place of origin: Mercer: small inland Southern village
History: Taliah was born the eldest of eleven children: three girls, seven boys. Her father was not the harshest of men, but her mother was most gentle, and after the early death of their patriarch, Taliah became the strength and the enforcer of the family, especially when her oldest and most beloved brother, Talor, left home to find a better means of supporting their large family. By necessity, Taliah developed a ruthless and stubborn personality to keep all her siblings—including one deaf sister, a pair of identical twins, and three other particularly mischievous brothers and sister—in check. Outside of her household, Taliah developed a healthy reputation amongst her neighbors, and even those who disdained her high-handed approach could not smother her fiery spirit with words or violence.
When at last Talor, her oldest brother, returned home, Taliah discovered that the gentle and obedient boy had grown into a confident and competent young man. Though he retained great love and respect for Taliah and never made an effort to challenge her, Taliah soon found herself constantly undermined by him. The other children—even Taliah herself—admired his worldliness and knowledge, and the neighbors rejoiced that at last a man had taken charge of the fatherless family. In time, Taliah grew to resent her beloved brother, but as she did not wish to develop hatred for him, she decided to leave home and seek her fortune in the most liberal Weyr on Pern. Many lessons appear forthcoming…
