basically nothing is guarenteed to live with piranhas - not even other piranhas of the same species.

however if you wanted to try mixing species your best with pygocentrus species, and if mixing with non-piranhas then P nattereri can sometimes be co-habited for a period of time with fast or hiding species like danios, tetras or some catfish.

thanks for the kind words smile.gif

some piranhas can live with fish for a bit, I currently have a shoal of blue tetras with my 2 pygocentrus nattereri, I had previously had a selection of barbs, tetras and danios, but the blue tetras were nipping them so I moved them elsewere.
here is a pic of my piranhas with the danios, barbs and tetras.

I'd like to add that most piranhas would simply eat the smaller fish, its more down to there personality than anything else, I certainly would not put in an expensive fish as they are unpredictible and could eat all there tankmates at any time.

I think one reason they are fairly harmonius in my tank is that the piranhas were never given live fish as food, I never used goldfish and I do keep them fed regularily.
