I found this article post about some "Dark Disney Princess" pieces done by illustrator Jeffrey Thomas, and I was simply blown away! These are utterly amazing. I'd love to see comics featuring THESE takes on the characters.
Check it out here: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2009/09/17/t...take-on-disney/ A couple of my favorites... ![]() -------------------- |

I liked the Mulan one, personally. I mean, she's already pretty badass, so the Darker and Edgier twist just fits better.

Those were awesome... I liked the Nala one, too!
And Ariel!... Whoa, yes. Nice touch with the fork, there, and the fishing hook piercing (I'd like to hear Triton's speech on that one!). And Badass Flounder XD Since I've read Snow, Glass, Apples (Neil Gaiman) that Snow White is almost nice-looking in comparison, but I like her still ^^; Starlogic: I saw a bunch of sketches a while back, have you seen the elephant "wall-walkers" and the steam-engine Monstro? I hope they made it in. I'm really excited about that game. |

Yeah, I thought the fork with Ariel was a very cool touch! makes you wonder how that happened, doesn't it?
I hate to admit this, but I've never seen The Rescuers. I saw the sequel though, which I remember liking (it was a long time ago). Those characters would probably utterly feral, heh. I wonder what Lilo and Stitch would look like in this style? -------------------- |

It's not necessarily their greatest movie (it was made during a rather troubled time when it was thought that Disney might close the Animation studio to concentrate on the Theme parks and live-action movies); but, other than the Talking Animal aspect, there's something of a grittiness that you don't find in most Disney movies. It's not "realistic" per se; but it doesn't have the colorful ultra-glossiness of, say, Snow White or Cinderella.
"Good" doesn't necessarily *have* to be "nice"... -------------------- Going where Angels fear to tread...

TOM: for frig's sake, Lilo & Stitch, YES. D: That would be so awesome.
Actually I wouldn't have been too surprised if Sanders had taken them further in that direction if he'd had complete control of that movie... |

Yes sir! *salutes* I really should see it sometime. There aren't many Disney movies (well, classic at least) that I haven't seen. And like I said, I did like the second one way back when. Plus, it has Bob Newhart in it, right? You can't go wrong there!
Whoa, I was not aware of "Kiskaloo." I'm gonna have to read through this! That's interesting to think about. Still, I think the original Lilo and Stitch movie was prefect just how it was. I wouldn't have wanted to see it taken in any other directions. But I like to pretend the franchise ended after said film. I didn't think too highly of the TV series. Oh, actually though, that direct to DVD movie "Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" wasn't bad for what it was -------------------- |

We ought to make that into a forum catchphrase or something. "Get thee hence blah blah blah..." -------------------- Rainy Day Donuts

Kyler Thatch: Seconded. I think "Get thee hence etc" already is an AIAF catchphrase
TOM: I agree, I think Lilo & Stitch is fine like it is (actually it's a personal favorite of mine, affection value beating even my childhood favorite of Robin Hood (now there's a Disney princess to darken up! "Oops, there goes Lady Cluck...")). I just like to see his other ideas on the side :3 I for one wouldn't have minded if the battle in the house had kept the shots from the plasma cannon (instead of the plates) and the real sharp "swiss army" things (instead of the toothpaste) and the chainsaw bit, and the original reason the house went up in flames (gas from the stove)... But I can see why they changed all that, and the scene is far more hilarious for it, so it works And, I've actively avoided the rest of the franchise, because I thought the story was done with, through and over at the end of the first movie. I just didn't feel like the concept of the second movie or the series felt inviting at all. This is saying a lot considering how much I love cute/freaky li'l critters. |

Nice to know that I've made some small (if dubious) contribution to AIAF's culture...

Robin Hood / Star Wars crossover, for the win! (okay, so it's not really Star Wars, but that gun looks close enough to a blaster that I'm now imagining Maid Marian as Princess Leia) -------------------- Rainy Day Donuts
