Kyler Thatch: Seconded. I think "Get thee hence etc" already is an AIAF catchphrase laugh.gif

Nice to know that I've made some small (if dubious) contribution to AIAF's culture... happy.gif

Agreed. I think it's now officially part of our own lexicon wink.gif

I wonder if that phrase could ever wind up in "Alone in a Crowd" itself....

....hmmmmmm wink.gif

QUOTE (Loopy)
I for one wouldn't have minded if the battle in the house had kept the shots from the plasma cannon (instead of the plates) and the real sharp "swiss army" things (instead of the toothpaste) and the chainsaw bit, and the original reason the house went up in flames (gas from the stove)... But I can see why they changed all that, and the scene is far more hilarious for it, so it works wink.gif As a movie for all ages, it's better balanced the way it is now. (I still love watching the other version in the extra material though X3)

And, I've actively avoided the rest of the franchise, because I thought the story was done with, through and over at the end of the first movie. I just didn't feel like the concept of the second movie or the series felt inviting at all. This is saying a lot considering how much I love cute/freaky li'l critters.

That's why extra material exists, after all biggrin.gif I can see why they'd change it as well though. But yes, you're doing well to avoid the rest of the franchise. Don't let it tarnish that which is pure! cool.gif

QUOTE (reynard61)
When I read this, I couldn't help but remember a pic that a fellow "Secret of NIMH" fan drew:

Hahahaha, I like the fanart! Though (and you guys are probably going to lynch me now...) I don't think I've ever seen "Robin Hood" either. At least not all of it. If I DID, it was when I was very very young, because I certainly don't remember any of it sad.gif

Now that I KNOW I've never seen before. Should I "Get myself hence" to the video store? biggrin.gif

Man, I want a chance to use the "Get thee hence..." line...

Boy, I sure like the anime movie The Girl Who Lept Through Time. It was a really nice twist on the "time travel" genre.

Has anyone else seen it? happy.gif

Not yet...

...but I *will* be getting me hence (how's *that* for a turn of phrase!) to my local video store when the DVD comes out. (I'm also waiting for Ponyo and Astroboy! *squees with delight* wub.gif )

Reynard: Cool fan art your friend drew, thanks for sharing!

Also, Ponyo seems awesome cute. ^w^
And, well, Astroboy = classic. I'll get ME thence when I can, 'cause I haven't seen it or read much of it yet. But I'm even more interested in Bagi to be honest...

And, TOM: yep. I think there's a reason why they cut bits of a movie / alter it, but I think it's fun to sit and consider why. Hobby damage I guess. wink.gif
Also, sometimes they don't take bits away for the right reasons (pacing and balance) but for such reasons as controversy (scenes in Leon, for instance, that made the movie much more welded together as a whole when left in).

How right you are. I can't tell you how many times I've watched some deleted scenes on a DVD or Blu-Ray's bonus features and said to myself "OH!!! That would have made SO much more sense if they left that in!"

What's even worse is when you listen to commentary tracks and hear the director say said scenes weren't cut because they felt they were BAD or anything like that. Too often it seems like they're just cut "for time." Granted, sometimes there are instances where you should cut for time, because proper pacing really is the key with telling a story. I just think it's a shame when worthy bits get cut for commercial reasons.

Is "Leon" that "Leon the Professional?" I've heard that title before, but never saw it.
