So believe it or not, but I managed to figure out how to set up UStream to broadcast my desktop. I'm sure it's not that big a thing, but I'm usually pretty clueless when it comes to that sort of thing. Luckily I found a free program that sets it up automatically. I wish the quality of the broadcast image was better, but what can ya do?
So who wants to watch me draw? I'm not sure when I'll do the test run quite yet. However, I will announce it on Twitter and here. I will say it will either be on Sunday afternoons or weekday evenings. -------------------- |

My main concern about doing something like this is having the comic's story given away before it actually goes up. Though perhaps in the UStream video feed the text wont be legible. I'm not sure, I've never done this obviously.
How do you all feel about that? -------------------- |

How bout you do what Tom Siddell does and stream commission sketches? it would give you extra incentive to get them done and wouldn't give away your story.

That's not a bad idea! Maybe I'll start off doing it that way, and then do comics too if they're not heavily plot intensive, or if I can obstruct the text or something.
This is true, BUT, unfortunately I always add the text first, so I'm sure I know how to fit the characters around it. HOW ABOUT THIS!? What if I add the text in before I start streaming, then put blocks over the text on a separate layer so it can't be seen? -------------------- |

Well, tested out the UStream this evening with Mr. Jimmy Misanthrope. Looks like it works pretty well. The quality isn't stupendous, but it was free software, so....YAY! So the official first "broadcast," or whatever you want to call it, will be on it's way! Stay tooned for more details
And honestly, if I stream myself inking a strip, I may not have to cover the text. I'm not sure it's actually legible in the UStream video feed. -------------------- |

Do you do commissions already?
And is it we just sit and watch, or can we interact with you at all by talking and stuff? -------------------- |

I don't do commissions yet in the sense that no one's ever asked for one. At the same time, I've never really offered either (probably because I was worried about the time it would take). But if someone wanted to commission me for a fair price, I think I'd accept so I can get the hang of the process for when I publicly offer them. You know what I mean? As for the UStream, ideally I'd like to interact with whoever is watching. Though at this time I imagine the only way to do so would be through the chat, since I don't have a mic + headset. The problem there is I would be stopping the draw often to type in the chat. Maybe I should just invest in a headset... -------------------- |
