The History of Eserua

The Forming of the World
It is believed by the people of Eserua that two angels created the world. Their names were Aeru and Syria and they were referred to as the Izeru Angels. The reason for this was because it was the power of Izeru that they used to create the earth. When Eserua was origionally formed, there were many faults. These faults were not physical, but more with the people of the world. They were greedy and selfish. Wars broke out with people wanting power and wealth. These wars angered one angel, Syria. He wanted to start over with a new world. In order to do this he would have to first whipe out Eserua. He began lashing out in fury at towns. Aeru on the other hand held faith in the people of Eserua. She knew that one day they could come through their differences and live in harmony - it was simply a matter of time. Aeru and Syria bickered and squabled. Syria would not stop his vicious attacks, and it is for this reason that he is seen by the people of Eserua as being evil rather than a creator. Aeru had no choice but to vanquish Syria. An Angel cannot directly destroy another angel, therfore she went about this by summoning the 8 world leaders. She took 8 cells from herself and gave one to each of them. Each of these cells contained the pure essence of Izeru, in a different elemental form

The Izeru Cell of Lightning
The Izeru Cell of Ice
The Izeru Cell of Light
The Izeru Cell of Dark

The day that these men recieved the Izeru cells was the day that the line of the elders began. It was also the day that the religion "Aerus" was first seen. The elders used their cells to create a seal-chamber, and seal Syria inside.

It was from this day that the world has existed as we know it. From this point forward, there was an Era of Peace.


The Forming of the religion Aerus
There are no historical records of any events before the formation of the religion
Aerus. Aerus was formed on the belief that the angel-goddess Aeru created the world along with Syria, and centuries later prevented it from destruction with the assitance of the world's leaders, who have now formed the line of the elders. Up until this point, how the world came about was a mystery. Aeru had never acknowledged her existance to the people of the world. Aerus was supposedly the forming of a new era, a time of piece. The details of the religion are as follows:

• There is no set method of worship. Some people pray, some perform rituals, some give offerings etc.
• There is one festival that everyone in Eserua celebrates, known as Resetua (pronounced REEZETYOOAR)
• Resetua celebrates the time when the war and suffering ended.
• A huge temple was errected to celebrate the festival.
• Most towns have churches to praise Aerus. They believe she will protect them from evil by doing so.
• Each church has a priest.
• There are 5 Izeru temples, smaller than the Resetua temples, that a man must travel to as his final test to become a priest.

Since Aerus came about, there has been only one war. It occured during the early times of the religion. While some of the population accepted the religion with open arms, others would not believe such farfetched tales. It was mainly the elves who would not believe in Aerus. It seemed unnatural to them that they should praise an angel who is depicted as being human. The conflict in opinions sparked underlying aggression towards the opposite race. This led to a war between the 2 huge races, leaving the other, smaller cultural races as neutral. The elves lost on a grand scale, they almost became extinct, and in 99% of Eserua they are still considered heretics and are not accepted. It is believed that they look different due to their ancestor's herecy.

Since Aerus came about, there has been only one war. It occured during the early times of the religion. Since the war, Aerus has steadily increased it's influence. Leaders of the churches have a large influence in the procedings of their corresponding town, and in some cases a priest and a mayor are both one and the same.


The World Government
The Eseua World Government formed when Aeru brought the 8 world leaders together. For many years they had been warring, but when brought together to defeat Syria they made peace and formed a world goverment. Whilst they would still have independant rule over their individual countries, once a month they would meet and discuss important matters that rose in one anothers countries, aswell ensuring that neither leaders were forming huge armys to whipe out the others etc. They also discussed laws. Whilst individual countrys were free to make their own laws, they needed to consult the other world leaders if it was a law which could effect other countries.

The World Goverment was formed by:
The Elder of Fire - Ignis Flamma
The Elder of Water - Fons Cidium
The Elder of Earth - Terra Motus
The Elder of Wind - Quilo Ventus (elvish)
The Elder of Lightning - Micans Candeo
The Elder of Ice - Glacilis Congel
The Elder of Light - Niteo Lucidus
The Elder of of Dark - Levo Acerbus

The World Goverment acted like a monarchy. People would not be elected into a seat if an elder died. The closest blood relative would take that seat. In the event that an elder died having no family, the chancellor of the country would take up the seat. After the origional elder had passed on, his son/daughter would be referred to as "Keeper"s. The reasoning for this was they were the only ones who possessed (kept) the secrets of their families Izeru Cell.

The World Government's meeting place rotated between countrys initially. However, after the interracial war, a new country was formed that neither elder had more authority over than another. All decisions would have to agreed upon. This became the headquaters for the World Government and their permanent meeting place.


The Downfall of the World Government
In the year A0 the world government was created. It had been operating succesfully for over 300 years, only ever having wittnessed a single war. However, A332 was to be the year of it's downfall, and also the ending of the Era of Peace.

For many years leading up to this date, the 7 leaders had been bickering and squabbling over international laws. They could never agree on anything, and it was for this reason that one by one they avoided turning up to World Government meetings in early A532. By the end of the year, the meetings of the World Governments were a thing of the past. With no world government meetings, there was nothign to stop each ruler doing as they pleased. Most of the ex-world government members had had laws passed that they did not agree with, and thus they were now free to disobey the laws.

"Laws are yours to break if there is no authority to enforce them".

The countries began to build armies that previously would have exceeded the limitations set by the world government. Fear and paranoia was now the key influence in the rulings of Eserua. Each leader suspected the others of plotting against them, and it was for this reason that the Era of Peace transisted directly into an era of non-stop war fare.

Taxes were divereted away from public resources directly into paying for weapons and soldier training, and thus the people of Eserua began to Suffer. Death rates increased not only due to the wars, but due to the plummit of food and public health facilities.

With all the warfare, it was not uncommon for the rule of countries to change hands. The line of the elders, the keepers, no longer led the countries of Eserua. However, the power and knowledge of The Keepers was far greater than simply leading a country. It was for this reason that in many countrys they still held prominant positions advising the rulers that would come forth. In other countries however the rulers would object to their help, and they would carry out their lives as ordinary people. However, for the more modest and humble of people, the teachings of the church of Aerus held strong authority over them. It is for this reason that Keepers are widely respected regardless of their position of authority within the Royal Hier-achys of their respective countries.
