I was thinking of the SLIM chance that Gore might run in 2016? He would be younger than many presidents that won even in 2016 and he is in good health as long as he and I avoid the Bar-B-Q.
But the thought went like this: 2016 would be clearly 10 years past when he is going to be reported to have said that we only have 10 years left before no turning back for the earth. Now it could be defended as we did do this and that and reduced emissions or changed some things etc and that gave us a little more than 10 years etc? HOWEVER, IF, there is huge shortages of water or any of many climate Related bad stuff going on or especially if sea levels have risen and dead zones spread, then he could be a demand for Prez! ( how about some significant ice melts in Greenland or Antarctica). Ya see why I am saying? Let the earth spin the same as today and Gore can't get out of the gate but let 1/8 of what he has feared be occurring in plain view and he would be demanded to run? Talk about a lousy Catch 22 :wtf: Gore is going to live to either be proven right or wrong I think? I don't think he will ever run cause he cares first about Climate Change more than Politics across the board of issues.( And he is secure and HAPPY in his life now!) BUT IF he thought that running because it is clear he was correct and we need someone to implement his ideas to save the Earths health, then he would run! And here I thought you were not an Optimist, Blue. Dare we hope that Gore might run in 2016? Yeah, that's 8 years away, but I'll wait, just on the off chance that it could happen. :Y:
Do ya think we'll all still be here at this board? Yeah, I think so. :good: |

One will assume Obama will pick a different person for VP in 2012 so that person then would have the edge for 2016.
I do believe it will be a woman though, or a Hispanic. I honestly believe white males will not be president again except by a fluke. (at least as a democrat). And the democrats will need to have a woman on the ticket, which is why I think one will be vp in 2012. HOWEVER- one person it will NOT be is Hillary. She is way too old. Most likely Sarah Palin will be defeated in 2012, and not a factor in 2016. (If she were smart she would not run in 2012 at all). Whomever runs for the republicans as president will be taking a dive. However, whoever runs for VP in 2012 on the losing ticket, most likely will be the nominee in 2016. (And that person God Forbid it, but will be Jeb.) And as much as I personally would love to see Gore whip Jeb's ass, I do not think the democrats will do it. (now, if only Al had been VP...and Biden SOS, then it would have been something). |

I don't see Gore running in 2016, but who knows.
I honestly wouldn't feel right asking him to do it, he served this country as VP, and he tried to save us from Dubya. He's already done more than most politicians as far as serving the USA, could we use him YES without a doubt, I just don't feel right expecting more out of him. :read: |

Well, I really don't see Gore running at that point - especially if Obama has addressed the climate crisis before then, but that's a pretty tall order to have done in 8 years.
And by that time, I wouldn't even try to draft him. Heck, he'll be what? 68? He's put in more than his time and deserves to enjoy himself. Now if he decided to run, I wouldn't argue with him. But I doubt it. |

After the speech tonight I think we should be working to repeal the 22nd Amendment so Obama can run for a third term in 2016.

That speech was so good it almost scared me, he's intelligent and working to help the USA. I still feel a little unsettled, I've heard politicians talk before and they didn't come through on their promises, I need my President to make these things happen.
8 years of being screwed, I guess I'm a little nervous thinking that maybe soon I'll have a job again. I didn't notice any made-up words or repeated BS during the speech  One way or the other it is sooo nice to have an INTELLIGENT President :good: |

We don't really know what the political landscape is going to look like in 6 or 7 years. And we don't know how Al Gore is going to feel about at least thinking of running in 2016. I really don't think age would exclude Gore. A healthy man in his 60's is not that old anymore.
stay tuned.. |

nothing personal James, but like I said on the SCOTUS thread, NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO We don't want to mess with something like that Because THEY can do it too, and a Bush in office can stay there by nefarious means Better would be that the constitutional scholar that Obama is, after SCOTUS if he feels like it, he should be named to the Supreme Court (Maybe Chief Justice? ) I just hope he gets a new VP in 2012, and SHE becomes President. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin or Caroline Kennedy would be fine by me. SHS would get Daschles approval, that's for sure. (after that abysmal retort yesterday, Pyush Bobby Brady Jindal is finished. (memo to republicans- DON'T MENTION KATRINA as a highlight of republican achievement). You do know don't you that Pyush is his real name, and Bobby is a name he took as a kid because he loved Bobby Brady. |

Now that's something I wouldn't mind seeing - just as long as it only applies to the Dems. ;) I'd hate to see a Bush being able to run for a 3rd term - much less run at all!! :spikey: |

Wayne, I don't think age would be so much a factor, but I was just saying that I wouldn't expect Gore to run if he didn't want to. Being 68 at that time, he might want to spend his time doing something else. |

If Bush has tried to run for a 3rd term Obama would have crushed him. |

I think Gore has resigned himself to never being President. Maybe it is time we did as well. |

I think another Gore campaign would be quite unlikely. It's not anything I would expect; but stranger things have happened. If someone told me 4 years ago that Obama would be President today, I would have thought that's not likely either.
just sayin' ;) |
