God of War 1

Story

QUOTE
Kratos, a Spartan commander, called for the help of Ares, the God of War, in a time of need. After being defeated by a Barbarian army, Kratos was at death until Ares came down from Olympus and granted Kratos the powers of the Gods, giving him the Blades of Chaos. Kratos, blinded by Spartan ambition, ended up killing his own family, scared with the ashes turning his skin pale and turning him into the Ghost of Sparta. Kratos wishes to avenge his family and decides to kill Ares in order to stop his nightmares.

Gameplay

QUOTE
God of War (GoW) is an awesome action/adventure game, and it's extremely bloody. The gameplay mechanics are very simple, yet complex enough to be fun. Basically you walk around and solve puzzles while killing Ares' minions and fighting other bosses as well. You can throw, rip peoples heads and arms off, and use a variety of magic.

Graphics

QUOTE
The graphics are simply amazing; probably one of the best out of the PS2 games. The landscape is very well done, and there aren't very many pixellated and/or choppy areas.

Audio

QUOTE
Great sound. Nothing else to say.

Other Notes

QUOTE
God of War has 4 different game modes, along with a bunch of extras you can unlock like the "Challenge of the Gods" and extra costumes for Kratos to wear, giving the game an enhanced replay value.

Score

QUOTE
I give GoW a whopping 9.4 / 10

God of War 2

Story

QUOTE
After killing Ares, Kratos has become the God of War, but he despises the Gods for they abandoned his only desire; to get rid of the nightmares. Kratos sends his Spartans to conquer Rome, and plunges from the heavens to finish the job himself, but the Gods are plotting against him. With the combined powers of Athena and Zeus, Kratos loses his powers, and struggles to find the Sisters of Fate in order to prevent Zeus from betraying him.

Gameplay

QUOTE
Basically the same thing as the first GoW, but with different magic, a few different combos, and several different throwing moves.

Graphics

QUOTE
The graphics are better than GoW 1, but it can get really laggy in some places. GoW1 is a lot more smoother than GoW 2, but it still looks nice.

Audio

QUOTE
As amazing as the first.

Other Notes

QUOTE
The transition between storylines is brilliantally thought up. It was so well put together that I was glad I was able to play #2 immediately after #1. A lot of the game is the same as #1, gameplay-wise, but with many different styles of puzzles and an epic story.

Score

QUOTE
I give God of War 2 a 9.2 / 10
